Fred Thompson's hot babe
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | Sunday, October 14, 2007 | Tom Purcell

Posted on 10/14/2007 4:15:36 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The presidential campaign is heating up. Thankfully, our press is focusing on important issues, such as Fred Thompson's wife.

As it goes, Thompson, who had been divorced 20 years, met her at a supermarket in 2000. She is 24 years his junior, but something clicked.

He carried her groceries to her car. She invited him to a party. They married in 2002 and now have two children.

And now, according to The New York Times Fashion & Style section, Thompson's young wife is spurring debate in Internet chat rooms, cable television and talk radio. Is America ready for a president with a trophy wife, The Times asks.

She's got a permanent tan, after all. Her hair is bleached blond. Her 41-year-old youthfulness contrasts mightily with the grandfatherly nature of her 65-year-old husband.

The question on everyone's mind: Will social conservatives -- those fuddy-duddy moral-values types -- turn away from Thompson because his second wife is a babe?

As is often the case with our media, they got it backward. MORE people will support Thompson because of his wife.

Look, Thompson has a balding noggin. His mug is pale, haggard and woebegone. Nobody is going to mistake him for George Clooney.

Yet the old fellow persuaded a young blonde in a supermarket to 1) ask him out, 2) marry him and 3) have two kids with him. This fellow could talk Ahmadinejad out of his nuclear ambitions.(continued)

Is America ready for a president with a trophy wife, The Times asks.

This comes from a paper that defended a President having extra-marital relations with an intern.

Nice puff piece on Thompson. I really think Jeri's age is a non-issue. Were I to vote for a hot first lady, I'd be supporting Kucinich.

But the story of how they met seems to be like the revisions people invariably used to get when Hollywood did a biopic. First, according to Wikipedia, via a Washington Post article, they met at a fourth of July event in 1996. Second, Jeri was a political consultant for a Washington, D.C. law firm. Do you really believe that Thompson simply picked her up at a grocery store without her recognizing the senator/actor at sight? As Fred would say, when he is impersonating a good ole boy and driving that red pickup for a couple of blocks before it gets put back on a lift and he climbs into his limosine, "That dog won't hunt".

They’re working that whole; tell the “stupid” conservatives what they’re thinking angle. They still haven’t figured out that it doesn’t work on conservatives. So, who’s stupid?

God bless the Thompsons they seem very happy and well suited to each other. This is one Christian social conservative who is ready for a beautiful young woman in the White House. Mrs. Thompson seems like a smart and classy lady. It would be refreshing to see “little ones” in the white house, too.

So,...are there any pictures of Fred’s lovely wife around here?? ;0)

I saw part of the family interview Thompson did, and they make a great couple. Plus with the children it was a picture of an obviously happy family. I really really really hope he gets the nomination as I feel he would win nationally and be very good for the country.

She is an attractive woman - no more so than many women. I guess what is unusual is that most politician's wives are not that good looking. But Mitt Romney has a good looking wife. Laura Bush is good looking too.

This dress was a mistake though. She looked like she was wearing lingerie. She won't make that mistake again.

So,...this is all they got on the guy? The other stuff about him being pro-abortion didn’t stick. The lobbying thing will put most voters to sleep.

His wife is beautiful.

Good for Senator Fred. You old dawg!

Now that is an odd reference. It is wrong but odd none the less. Why would you use a reference to a children’s character? Very very odd indeed.
