Well said . Thompson has had a couple of bumps , but he is the only top tier candidate that can beat Hillary with a Conservative message .
He does have a good Conservative voting record as you stated , which persuaded me as well. He is also keeping a solid Conservative message which is a definate plus .

I once supported Romney , but came to my senses .

Anyways , good to have you on board !

Thompson did NOT vote against removing Bill Clinton from office.

There were two counts. He did not feel that one was proven, but he voted to remove from office on the other count.

Here is his statement:

I read that explanation by Thompson which you posted. He admits that Clinton committed perjury and then declines to remove him from office because of technical legal issues, which he earlier acknowledged did not bind the Senate. I am sorry, but Thompson is not displaying legal brilliance in this argument. You are wrong when you say that he did not believe the count was proven. He clearly states in that argument that Clinton committed perjury. Rather he argues that the charge as written was not specific enough in a legal sense. Since he also acknowledges that the Senate is not bound by standard legal rules in making its decision, his excuse for his vote is disingenuous to say the least.

I do acknowledge that Thompson voted to remove Clinton from office on the count of obstructing justice, however, he seems to believe that Clinton obstructed justice primarily by committing perjury, on which count he voted not to remove Clinton from office. This may pass muster to Harriet Myers, but most people would find this to be spurious reasoning.

Nevertheless, I still believe he is the best hope for conservatives to obtain the presidency.

A Rudi POTUS would be no different from a Hillary presidency.

I agree. Except for one ironic point, that is. With Hillary, I think our current spineless congressional republicans will grow a backbone and stand up to her. With Rudi-Tutti, they'll be in lock-step as the Senate Republicans have been with Bush. That could ironically be far more dangerous.

It doesn’t matter how much you believe that Fred can beat Hilary with a conservative ‘message’. It won’t matter in a debate with her. As soon as Fred opens his mouth, it’s all over for him. Hilary wins, unfortunately.

I just don't see any enthusism or fire in Mr. Fred.

And I like him, but I don't feel it happening.

Well unfortunately Hunter and Tancredo have zero chance of winning. So CFR aside , we need to take into consideration all of the periphery issues that will come with a Conservative in the W.H. Judges , gun rights, States Rights , pro-life, low taxes , strong defense .....

That propaganda is what the MSM would have us believe. If we become convinced that Hunter has no chance it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I am running for to be a delegate to my state convention, and I believe that I owe it to my country and myself to vote my for the candidate who most closely matches my beliefs. If everyone does that, the "Know-it-all" pundents at the MSM may well be surprised that our second tier candidate wins the primary.

I'm a realist enough to know that I may not always get my first choice, but I never will if I don't try. I can always vote for my second choice (Thompson) on the second and subsequent rounds if it becomes necessary.

Have you ever listened to Hillary speak? Thompson sounds friendly and personable. Hillary is shrill and phony. Thompson would clean her clock. Thompson has a folksy style which is a strong contrast to the combative Giuliani or the slick Romney.

This silly line of attack might have some grounding in reality if the person making it wasn’t supporting a guy who was grabbing guns, socializing medicine, and supporting abortion like three years ago, as governor of the most liberal state in the union.

This person’s posting history also indicates the worst kind of trolling and personal insults hurled at Fred Thompson and his wife in particular.

For this person to be supporting a lightweight like Romney and posting such nastiness on a regular basis, then to have the nerve to try and influence opinion on who is and isn’t a conservative is truly over the line.

Talk about propaganda .... You’re trying to plant seeds of doubt about Fred and it won’t work .

Thompson is the only one who can beat Hillary . People will gravitate to him as the contrast is made . The visual alone of Fred and Hillary on a stage , will pretty much wrap the election up in Fred’s favor .

The Dims know this and they fear Fred .
