Illegal Immigrantion? Isn’t that what the DemonRats are trying to do by granting crimaliens benefits that American citizens don’t have?

All joking aside, the addressing of this issue in a proper manner by a presidential candidate is about fifteen years overdue. I have wanted to see this for a long time. Kudos to Thompson.

For some reason I don’t think that title was an “accident”

Perhaps he can clarify why illegals “must have aspirations of citizenship” as he said in Fox News interview?

For about eight years, Rosales said, he worked on and off landscaping the grounds at Romney’s home, occasionally getting a “buenos dias” from Romney or a drink of water from his wife, Ann.

“She is very nice,” said Rosales, 49.

About 6 miles away in Copado, a 37-year-old man who recently returned to Guatemala from the United States told a similar story, describing long days tending Romney’s 2 1/2-acre grounds.

“They wanted that house to look really nice,” said the worker, who asked to remain anonymous. “It took a long time.”

As Governor Mitt Romney explores a presidential bid, he has grown outspoken in his criticism of illegal immigration. But, for a decade, the governor has used a landscaping company that relies heavily on workers like these, illegal Guatemalan immigrants, to maintain the grounds surrounding his pink Colonial house on Marsh Street in Belmont.

The Globe recently interviewed four current and former employees of Community Lawn Service with a Heart, the tiny Chelsea-based company that provides upkeep of Romney’s property. All but one said they were in the United States illegally.

The employees told the Globe that company owner Ricardo Saenz never asked them to provide documents showing their immigration status and knew they were illegal immigrants.

“He never asked for papers,” said Rosales, who said he had paid smugglers about $5,000 to take him across the US-Mexican border and settled in Chelsea.

The workers said they were paid in cash at $9 to $10 an hour and sometimes worked 11-hour days.

Romney never inquired about their status, they said.

In addition to maintaining the governor’s property, they also tended to the lawn at the house owned by Romney’s son, Taggart, less than a mile away on the same winding street.

Asked by a reporter yesterday about his use of Community Lawn Service with a Heart, Romney, who was hosting the Republican Governors Association conference in Miami, said, “Aw, geez,” and walked away.

You Mittwits are getting desperate, aren't you? If my polls looked liked Willard's, I'd be desperate, too, I guess. All those millions, and so little to show for it...

You are right. Mitt is leading in two early primary states Iowa (+8%) and NH (+4). I’m getting desperate.

Mitt can be rightly criticized for many things so don’t bring up this BS. He used legal company and it isn’t possible (or even legal) to check the status of company employees. Do you check immigration status of people who deliver your pizza?

If this is all you have, you are pathetic.

Anyway, Fred himself said (2007, Fox News) that illegals must have aspirations of citizenship. You really can’t explain that away, can you?

I hope they make sure to ask Fred how he applies his Fredralism to the invasion. Particularly, would he let states make their own criteria for handing out birth certificates? Does he believe that the Federal Government should prevent states from handing out drivers licenses to illegals? What is a president’s obligation when a city or state refuses to abide by federal immigration laws?

Romney has spent millions and run thousands of ads in Iowa. On the other hand, Fred has maybe bought a sandwich and a Coke and run exactly zero ads in Iowa, and they are six points apart in the Rasmusen poll (widely considered to be among the most accurate). Please explain.

Fred on Immigration:

The United States is a nation of immigrants. Throughout our history, legal immigrants have brought energy, ideas, strength, and diversity to our country, our economy, and our culture. This must continue. But in the post-9/11 world, immigration is more of a national security issue. A government that cannot secure its borders and determine who may enter and who may not, abrogates a fundamental responsibility. I am committed to: Securing our borders and enforcing immigration laws. Amnesty is not an option and the toleration of “sanctuary cities” must end. Reviewing our immigration laws and policies to ensure they advance our national interests. Uniting Americans by welcoming legal immigrants willing to learn English, assimilate into our communities, and become productive citizens. Fred08

According to RCP averages, Romney has 8.4% lead in Iowa. I can’t complain. I think it is better than Romney supporters thought in their wildest dreams.

Romney is getting more donations from Iowa than any other candidate. Please explain.

Fred would be advertising there as well, if he had money. Too bad he don’t.

Fred surged some time ago but his poll numbers (and intrade numbers) are going down. I think he was tied with Rudy for a while. More people get to know Fred, less they like him, given the expectations. Reagan he ain’t.

My ideal candidate would be Rick Santorum. Too bad he isn’t available.

If Fred keeps saying this, he will be our next President for sure! Most Americans are really feeling this way and want illegals our of here and our borders secured!
