matthew, Hunter is for “fair trade” with China, and his border fence. Both issues are controversial, apparently, with a lot of big government Republicans. Big business for one, wants illegal immigration, it benefits their profits. And all the free traders want everything shipped off to China, or so it seems.
Thus Hunter is labeled a protectionist, which of course he isn’t, BUT IMO those are the reason he is not allowed more traction or face time. RINO’s particularly, oppose those things he stands for.

Well, as long as I am opining, I still think Duncan has a real chance. As much as many tout the top four, (Rudy,Mitt,Fred,McCain) none of those candidates are really gaining any traction. They are all mired at about the same level for months now. The reason is that none of them inspire folks enough to join their campaign. They are very mediocre or not conservative candidates. The party has the blahs.
That is why I have hope for Duncan Hunter. Nearly everyone who takes the time to learn about him agree he is the most qualified candidate. We need to stay vigilant and keep promoting him to everyone. Education is key. When the time is right and the “favored” candidates flop, Hunter can move in and garner the attention he deserves. The media attention and the money will follow. He is right on the issues, that part is in the bank.
Now, if everyone who likes him will forget the other weaker candidates, we can get this ball rolling faster.

Yeah. That’s why we selected Reagan over Bush I and Howard Baker, and why we selected Bush II over McQueeg and Reparations Keyes?

I agree that the PTBs might not like Hunter, but even Buchanan had that issue and his numbers were much bigger. I think this early election cycle favors the Big-Money candidates and... here’s the clincher... the Main Stream Media. The MSM gets to keep touting who they think are the “leading” candidates even when there was very little evidence to support it, and by continually beating that drum they have created a kind of momentum that is difficult to counter, even on the premiere conservative website in the world.

I second everything you said in post #19, ss!
My very skeptical daughter and son in law, who didn’t want to hear me talk about Duncan Hunter, saw him for the first time in the MSNBC debate, and called to say they thought Duncan Hunter was wonderful, and that he won that debate! Proves your point. It’s happening all over the country! :)
