Boston Legal Writers Attack Pentagon Policy @ExileStreet

When does entertainment stop being entertainment and cross the line into propaganda?

On ABC it’s Tuesday nights at 10:00, when Boston Legal airs.

ABC used its October 16 Boston Legal episode, “Do Tell,” to promote the homosexual agenda, with a story about a homosexual general suing the United States Army for discharging him on the basis of his sexual orientation.

To deliver the politically correct message, the Boston Legal writers spoke through their characters as if they were ventriloquist’s dummies. “Tolerant” characters had ample opportunity to expound on the discrimination gays face, as lawyer Alan Shore does for his “homophobic” colleague Denny Crane... My daughter, a real estate attorney, named her yacht “Boston Legal” - - I just shook my head.

I have watched BL for the last couple years and generally found it entertaining. Even though is is noticeably biased to the far left the stories had a bit of irony and general humor.

But this episode finally got to me and I switched away at the 1/2 way point. Never again to enjoy.

Half way point? Wow....you lasted much longer than me.

I turned it off less than 2 minutes into the show, when the show’s characters were meeting with the general and the words “went to war based on a lie” were uttered.
F U, Boston Legal.

Wow. Never watched this show, and I guess i was right not to. The biggest sin here, of course, is that such propaganda is just boring. It's also insulting: essentially it's equivalent to being talked down to like a child, being told what and how to think.

These quotes remind me of that earlier Candice Bergen series "Murphy Brown". Just godawful, sock puppet characters delivering speeches in every single straw-man-plotted episode.

All that said...what really gets me here is the ignorance. Is it really too much to ask of propagandists to actually do some homework?

Since when do "we" "make it next to impossible for them [homosexual people] to get health insurance"? That's just ridiculous.

Back a few months ago, Rush said he watches it and really liked it even with the left slant. Lately, I have not heard him mention it. It has gone way to the left. Denny Crane needs to find his guns again.

I agree. Two years ago loved it. Last year, some good shows, but most were marginal. This year, can’t stand it. Stupid characters, inane story lines. Very obvious move to the far left. They lost three viewers in this household.

I quit watchng last year...but then again I quit watchig SNL, David Letterman, Law and Order, and essentially everything except sports, R. Lee Ermey (Roll Call) and CSI. CSI even irritates me from time to time and I predict that’ll soon fall also.

Deal or no deal is marginal...biggest loser...worse...

I’ve been watching old Hitchcock movies on AMC...(Jimmy Stewart) and looking up old websites of Jimmy and his days in the 8th Air Force to keep my head above water.

Me too. Could almost stomach Candance Bergan; however; this was pure bias politics.

They have gotten really stupid.

I quit watching when they brought Bergen on board. Every show became a leftist soap box, and after awhile, I just said enough already. That’s one hour free for doing something worthwhile.

Boston Legal doesn’t even take the time to make the story lines about correct legal issues. They took one episode where a constituent was suing a Congressman for not staying bought. They turned it into a referendum on the Second Amendment.

The episode mentioned here portrayed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell as an Army policy. It’s a policy instituted by Congress, enforced by the military. The lawsuit should have been tossed. The moral preening was too much for me - my wife watched it alone.

If Fox were to broadcast a legal fiction show, lets say Cincinnati Legal, with conservative [read American] themes, the MSM was have weekly fits and Harry Read would get 41 senators to write that the show should be taken off the air.

But Boston Legal is simply “main stream.” No need to be concerned. They just tell it like it is and like it should be.

Didn't that also feature the 14-year-old girl who got HIV from having sex and she sued her school for teaching abstinence instead of condoms (which supposedly would have protected her)?

And WON?

I like the series. I hate the court decisions.

Last week was the last week I’m watching BL. It was always liberal, but used to be entertaining and didn’t beat me over the head every week.

Now, it’s unentertaining and preachy, as well as completely absurd. Sex is common among everybody, all the sane lawyers seem to have gone, the judges that are even CLOSE to being conservative are all shown as lunatics, and the BL folks win every case, even when they use lawyers with no experience at all.

I almost expect them to send a cat up to argue a case some day — and the cat would win.

So I’ve stopped watching. I’m writing ABC to tell them why. One more free hour for me each week.

My daughter’s been watching OLD CSI on the cable channels. So now she’s watching the latest shows. I never really liked it, but I didn’t mind watching with her (the old shows). But the current shows are all absurd attacks on christianity and all things conservative.

yes, that was one of their shows. They didn’t even bother to ask the girl if she had heard of the internet. Because if she had, she had no excuse not to know about condoms.

"They didn’t even bother to ask the girl if she had heard of the internet."

Or if she ever talked to her parents who were sitting there like, "Daughter? We have a 14-year-old sexually active daughter?"

a) If they teach condoms, she doesn't use one, she gets HIV, she can't sue.
b) If they teach condoms, she uses one, she still gets HIV, she can't sue.
c) If they teach abstinence, she has sex, gets HIV, she sues, wins, and the judge tacks on an award of $750,000 without being asked.

On the stand she says, "Well, I guess part of the responsibility is mine ...." Yeah, like 100%. The school says don't, you do, and the school is wrong?

Now, if I was writing the script, I'd leave out the girl and definitely the school. I would charge her "boyfriend" with attempted murder for being HIV positive and having unprotected sex with a minor and have the jury come back with a finding of "Guilty".

Then Denny Crane would shoot him.

The little Mexican kid that was the bullfighter? Hey, if it's fine in YOUR country, why not here? Where's our compassion? Where's our understanding?

The Mexican cockfighter? Same thing.

I like the show. I like the writing. I even like the cases. It's the outcome of the cases that makes me want to throw a brick through the screeen.
