UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Get some water ready...
You all stay safe. I am praying for you....
Are you that close?? I am praying for you and everyone affected!
Uh oh, stay safe, BG. Prayers up.
Funny, I had just prayed that you will all find the way out.
Both my sons are firefighter’s here in the city.I will be praying.
YOU stay safe, BG! Prayers up.
We’re having the same ‘refusal’ issues in Ramona. Six hours after everyone was told to get out, we now have a flurry of “person trapped” calls. Some of them are going to stay trapped, ‘cause the roads are now impassable.
Soledad Cyn Rd, Whites Cyn Rd, Sierra Hwy are all jammed into gridlock
A woman on KNX was saying Saugus is inbetween both hay-uge fires, and what if Saugus HS (evacuation center) had to be evacuated itself?
Oh my goodness! Just getting caught up on this thread. Not a good night in Southern California!
BG, you too! Are you in any paths?
What happened with the Malibu fire? Was it contained?
I’m still here.....so far so good.
The one by the college is (I’d say) NOT AT ALL under control. It looks bigger. And closer. HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER...THERE’S A LOT to burn till it gets here...
I just want the electricity to stay on, too...!
Know of any hotels in cities far enough away from the fires? Maybe take a little “vacation”? Maybe your friends could join you?
Well dadgummit woman, don't wait too long!!!!!!
Would going “east” be generally the best way to go? Isn’t everything spreading to the west? Do the Santa Ana’s change directions at night?
I know firsthand how scary it is to have breathing problems, so please take care of yourself.
Prayers up from TX for you and Brad’s Gramma.
“What happened with the Malibu fire? Was it contained?”
Not at all!
I’m keeping an eye on this. In my NONPROFESSIONAL eye...I would assume that the sparks from the biggie by the college are setting other ones...
I told my brother the new Residence Inn in Burbank (1st and Verdugo)....its brand new and the parking lot looked empty.
His wife got all mad I even mentioned evacuating. If I lived where they did I would already be gone...I cant stand the smoke.
