Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly (D) said yesterday that under no circumstances would he follow the lead of Prince William County and push for legislation to cut off services to illegal immigrants or authorize police to check the immigration status of suspects, measures he described as election season demagoguery.
"I can just tell you Fairfax County is not going to go the route of some of our neighbors," Connolly, who is seeking a second term as chairman Nov. 6, said during a meeting with Washington Post reporters and editors. "We're not going to demagogue. We're not going to essentially roll back the welcome mat. . . . That's not why I ran for office and that isn't who we are, and we're not going to do that."
Connolly's Republican challenger, Gary H. Baise, said at the joint meeting that if elected he would push to enroll Fairfax police in a program run by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that gives selected officers instant access to federal immigration data.

In Connolly's view, it is demagoguery if you want to limit local benefits to those who are legally in the country.
Gary Blaise, the Republican challenger for Chairman, wants to take steps similar to nearby Prince William County, such as blocking illegals access to many local govt. taxpayer funded benefits.
We must keep in mind that Democrats want to destroy this country as it now exists and that they frequently telegraph their motives and strategy by accusing their opponents of the same.
I thought there was no difference on immigration between the rats and Republicans. Please explain how the rat position is not different.
Tagline BUMP!
Nice to hear that Fairfax Co., VA has the welcome mat out for illegals. Texas has a few million we’ll be happy to direct to Fairfax Co. so they can get on the gravy train there. We won’t miss the burden of our tax dollars being spent on educating, medicating, and incarcerating the squatters.
(Is Gerald Connolly a total idiot? He sounds too stupid even to be a Democrat.)
Twist themselves into pretzels trying to explain their 'most people agree BS....!" line.
The answer will come from the bottom up. There is NO will to fight illegal aliens in Washington. The states and towns of America will have to do it and they are starting to do so.
The situation is hopeless. The only way this is going to be corrected is when a recession causes “normal” people, most of whom are Democratic, to stand behind the “illegals” for state bennies....
Man is a public danger and should be removed from office as soon as possible.
Once Loudon and Prince William get the OK to proceed with their programs, the illegals will be heading across the county line to Fairfax, you're right about that.
But IMO the illegals population here in Fairfax County is just about maxed, and once the "migration" from PW begins the solemn vows of Gerald Connolly will be just so much blather and BS.
He'll be forced to fix the problem, or he'll find a new career.
