“Defense Secretary or other Cabinet-level pick.”

Why not VP? It would certainly give him 4 years to get face time, more exposure, and maybe convince shmoo’s like me. Fred seems to be doing okay, but to me he is looking pretty haggard for his mid-60’s. The way the presidency seems to age anyone who gets it.....I don’t know how well he would fare or if he would be a two-termer

People claim that Al Gore Junior won an Oscar and a Nobel prize, but actually it is the people behind him who won the awards. Al Gore appeared in the movie but did not MAKE the movie. The scientists Gore Junior highlighted got the Peace Prize.

He just rose to his own level of incompetence.

This means he will nearly always exceed their estimation.

Get your mind out of the gutter...that is not what I meant. He and Jeri will campaign their way...not the way of the MSM.

The more the media hates this man, the more I like him.

If only Duncan had a chance in heck at the nomination. I really wish he did.

Duncan Hunter has the backbone and the conviction, but I'm not sure he has the charisma.

I like Hunter, but I think his best hope is to get on the ticket as Vice President and build name recognition from that position if the Republican candidate wins.

If by some grand miracle Hunter makes it in there- and he won’t, you’re all delusional, he’s be chewed up by the media and spit out by Hillary... The Dukakis loss will seem like nothing in comparison.

Obviously you’ve never seen him handle his political opponents... but, please... keep going with the unsubstantiated assertions...

Please get back at me when he gets over the 1% (among GOPers, never mind the GE) threshold. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1804334/posts

LOL!

1. That’s my point.
2. Thanks for linking to a thread where you have your butt handed to you many times over for the same issue as our discussion... kind of takes the pressure off me...

I didn't have my butt handed to me... If you read it, I pinged all of the Hunter fans I knew, looking for some sanity...

I've come to the conclusion that the Hunter crowd tends to be devoid of reality, stubborn, foolish daydreamers wasting their time on a pathetic campaigner who will never get above 1 or 2%- among GOP voters

You're pathetic... Even if he achieved a miracle, he'd never appeal to Reagan Dems and indies... You folks are a huge waste of my time... there, said it.

Well, if you want to get personal...

What's more pathetic... choosing a candidate with whom you agree or going with the most popular (because the MSM tell you he can win)?

I'll remind you, and those others who think like you... this is the primary season. This is when we choose a candidate. You are making your candidate decision based on the polls and the usual "lesser of two evils". I am choosing based on my principles and who I think would do the best as president. When the general election comes, I will then choose the lesser of two evils if, unfortunately, we get one of the leading RINOs as our nominee. Doing so at this stage of the game is the action of a moral coward.

Fred Thompson has a cretin Southern sophistication Hillary lacks.

LOL! He blew the first sentence as well:

"For as many presidential elections as I can recall two things are cretin..."

I think he was meaning to spell "certain", but I'm not cretin about that.

Let me put it to you this way... If I agree with Thompson on 95% of the issues, but he’s 100x more electable, please provide me with a rationale for throwing my support behind Hunter... By the way, where does Thompson fall short in your estimation?

I don’t know enough about Thompson at this stage. I’ve read some articles that paint him as weak on immigration... but I don’t know that first hand.

I do know where Duncan Hunter stands on nearly all of the important issues of the day. I will support him strenuously until the nominee is chosen—this is what the primaries are for. I pray for our country that we choose a nominee who will lead us away from the Democrat and Democrat-lite policies we’ve been treated to recently. Frankly, the current front-runners don’t give me that confidence.
