That seems to be a totally inane argument on the part of Hsu and his lawyer. As I understand it, he had already had a trial and became a fugitive after his conviction. So what is the relevance of the state government's apparent lack of interest in him during the fugitive period, to a lack of speed in getting him to trial? None, zilch, nada, if those are indeed the facts.
