Clinton Names Congressman John Lewis National Campaign Chair
The Clinton Campaign ^ | 10/26/2007 | The Clinton Campaign

Posted on 10/27/2007 2:23:55 PM PDT by mdittmar

The Clinton Campaign today announced that Congressman John Lewis will serve as a national campaign chair. Congressman Lewis recently endorsed Senator Clinton stating he believes that “Senator Clinton is the best prepared to lead this country at a time when we are in desperate need of strong leadership.” As one of six national campaign chairs, Representative Lewis will focus his efforts on economic empowerment, health care, and poverty.

Rep. Lewis is a civil rights pioneer who has devoted his life to equal rights for all Americans. From his days as a Freedom Rider and the head of the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee, to his leadership of the “Bloody Sunday” march in Selma, Alabama, Lewis has been one of the most respected figures in the civil rights movement for four decades.

Elected to the Atlanta City Council in 1981, Rep. Lewis was later elected to Congress in 1986, where he’s represented Georgia’s 5th Congressional District for the last 20 years. He is Senior Chief Deputy Whip for the Democratic Party leadership in the House, a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, a member of its Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, and Chairman of its Subcommittee on Oversight

Lewis is a first class ass:

“”They’re coming for the children. They’re coming for the poor. They’re coming for the sick, the elderly and the disabled,” said Lewis after Republicans won House and Senate majorities in 1994 in a speech that compared the GOP to Nazis.”

Hillary must feel that her support in the “black community” needs shoring up. Could it be that blacks are finally figuring her out, like everyone else?

Where is the logic in this?

Hildabeast will automatically have 99.9 percent of the black vote so why would she pick a total moron?
Is Lewis not the idiot that said that sharks still roam
the slave routs looking for blacks thrown overboard?

Wasn’t it John Lewis that said that sharks had changed their feeding patterns to be sure to eat the slaves thrown overboard in the 17th century and that they were still out there today looking for food?

Does Hillary need the black vote that bad?

Frightening...

Yeah, Congressman Lewis said “millions of slaves” were thrown overboard and that schools of shark still prowl the old trade crossings, looking for a meal, even though Congress ended slave importation in 1807.

Lewis will be kept on a very tight leash.

“Wasn’t it John Lewis that said that sharks had changed their feeding patterns to be sure to eat the slaves thrown overboard in the 17th century and that they were still out there today looking for food?”

IIRC, the man who said this was a Representitive Major Owens.

Years ago, early 1960’s, I met John Lewis at a SNCC sponsored civil rights rally in Seattle. I also met Marion Berry of mayor of DC fame, Harry Belefonte and several other assorted ne’r do wells.

After meeting a few of these guys I got out of both Seattle and the civil rights movement and have lived happily ever after.

DOH! You’re exactly right. My apologies to Rep Lewis. He’s not as much a dolt as I give him credit for.
