Would you advocate third party or stay home if Huckabee is the candidate?
October 28,2007 | Ebmiller

Posted on 10/28/2007 3:34:26 AM PDT by ebmiller

There is great hostility to Govenor Huckabee by many freepers. Since Rasmussen is including Huckabee in the daily tracking poll, it seems he is gaining some traction. I am curious since many on this site have grave doubts about a Huckabee presidency, how many would go to a third party or would just stay home?

Obviously, any sane person would vote for Huckabee. He's no John McCain (shutter...) and he's CERTAINLY not a pro-abortionist, pro-radical gay agenda, pro-illegal alien, anti-second amendment serial adulterer liberal lawyer like Rudy Giuliani.

But there is no way that Huckabee is going to be the nominee. So, this is kind of a silly question. He can enjoy his day in the sun, his very brief look at low double digits, but it will be short-lived.

You don’t state your reasons why - which is typical mentality of the Democrats. You just throw it out there and hope it sticks to the wall.

Look...this is real simple, the MSM and the Dems are NEVER going to allow anybody named Huckabee to be POTUS. He will be painted as a former fat, southern racist who now has flip flopped his way to the GOP nomination.

It’s not gonna happen.

Fair Tax. This is good.

The immigration part of his platform, well, we can always pray for gridlock.

But I would vote for him on the basis of the FairTax alone.

I’ve got nothing against Huck,

but I would prefer a nominee that has
a chance of winning.

Thank you for this insult. Keep it for yourself. I guess it's obvious that my potential support for Huckabee, Giuliani or Romney, should one of them get the nomination, is based on "anyone but a Dem" or "the lesser evil" scheme of thinking.

My apologies. I misread your comment. Although it will be hard for a conservative to vote for someone like Giuliani, it’s a sad state of affairs that we now have to go to the polls to vote for the lesser of two evils, which wouldn’t be the first time. However, with Giuliani, we would no longer be the Republican Party.

Again, my apologies.

In the 2004 election, Conservatives were so angry that they didn't even bother to go to the polls. Some even voted for Democrat candidates in their anger. "Yes siree! We conservatives are going to show those Republicans!"

So what did we get? A Democrat Congress and a Speaker of the House who, if you can believe after the House Chaplain says his opening prayer, crosses herself????

Incredible!

However, with Giuliani, we would no longer be the Republican Party. I agree. But I don't think it will come that far. Conservatives won't vote for Rudy in the primaries.

Voting for the Republicans just because they are not the Democrats is getting old.

I am voting on the ISSUES, not for a fancy Madison Avenue designer label...

NON-NEGOTIABLE issues:

1. War.

2. Border.

3. Terrorism.

4. Second Amendment.

Julie-Annie can go to hell and so can the Republicans if they are dumb enough to push that swill...

Yours is the grown-up attitude. I'm Thompson at the caucus but if my guy is not the nominee, I pledge my full support to do anything to keep that Commie crook out of my WH.

The fact they they partly destroyed the place and walked off with the furniture isn't enough to convince some people of their evilness. The rest of us will have to do our best to work that much harder.

Thurs. am, I heard Chuck Baldwin tell me that unless I vote for Paul at the caucus, I'm not as good a Christian as he and the very same day in the pm, I heard another radio host tell me that unless I vote for Huck at the caucus I'm not an adequate Christian.

I'm sick of this whole thing. Everyone should support whomever they want during the primary process and then unite to keep this beast out of the WH. Those who believe there will be another day may be right but they may also be wrong.

This threads always bring out those who live in some delusional kook world. In the real world, it boils down to effectively A or B, whether you close your eyes, hold your breath, or throw yourself on the floor in a tantrum. If you don’t vote for A, you are helping elect B, and visa versa. THAT”S REALITY WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.

Little babies like to live in “make believe” la-la land. is this harsh? Yes, but this is dead serious and I'm sick and tired of those with baby mindsets.

Tell me, does it feel better when the knife goes in your back if the person holding the knife has an “R” after his name? Are your rights any less violated if the person who violates them is an “R”?

This isn’t a horse race where you go to the window to cash in because you picked a ‘winner’. This is about real values and real principle — life and death stuff — and more importantly, our liberty is at stake. When the “R” is little different than the “D” you are not even slowing the socialist train let alone reversing course.

My demise may come sooner if I vote third party but it’s coming too if I vote for the “R” who thinks like the “D”. I just refuse to vote for my executioner.

This is why we have primaries, as I’ve been saying for (martyred sigh) almost two years now. I’ll vote for Hunter or Thompson in the primary, depending on who’s still on the ballot and what I’ve learned about them between now and next April. Once we have a nominee, I’ll decide whether and to what extent I can support him.
