About that leg... dog gone it!
Hope the guy doesn’t have long term problems.
Next time I hope he remembers the safety.

it doesn't take a whole lot to trip a trigger." Especially for older hunters...

I always suspected Buddy (may he rest in peace) was looking to put the bead on the B. Hillary is just one lucky person. The American public sure isn’t.

The accident happened after James Harris, 37, put his gun on the ground to retrieve a fallen pheasant. If he had to retrieve the bird, why did he take the dogs?

My Uncle’s father lost a leg climbing through a fence while hunting. His shotgun went off. Snagged on something.

My Uncles father lost a leg climbing through a fence while hunting. His shotgun went off. Snagged on something. That is exactly why you put the gun on the ground on the other side of the fence before climbing through and you have the safety on OR the chamber empty. It is absolutely a no-no to climb over/through a fence while hanging onto the gun.

"See what happens when you let dogs outsource?"
Thanks...but no thanks.
They outsource all over the lawn.

Not an accident. It rarely ever is.
Lay a firearm on the ground that is chambered and cocked, then step in front of it and one is asking for trouble. He got it.

It's just an accident and hopefully not fodder for the anti-gun crowd.
Where I work The Office Liberal (TOL) is already gleefully sending this to all of us who are pro-gun, pro-second amendment.

The accident happened after James Harris, 37, put his gun on the ground to retrieve a fallen pheasant. Doesn't retrieving a pheasant fall under the DOG'S job description? I think this is a case of a union dog getting pissed off at the non-union hunter trying to encroach on his job description, and rather than filing a grievance he just took matters into his own paws to teach a lesson more forcefully.
