Mike Huckabee Under Fire for Referring to Abortion Deaths as "Holocaust"
Life News ^ | 10/31/07 | Steven Ertelt

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is under fire from Jewish groups after a speech he gave at a pro-life event the weekend before last. In the address to the Family Research Council, the former Arkansas governor referred to the deaths of 45-50 million unborn children from abortion as a holocaust.

In the speech, he linked the issues of abortion and illegal immigration -- saying the destruction of tens of millions of unborn children has left the U.S. with a worker shortage.

“Sometimes we talk about why we’re importing so many people in our work force,” Huckabee said in the speech.

“It might be for the last 35 years, we have aborted more than a million people who would have been in our work force had we not had the holocaust of liberalized abortion under a flawed Supreme Court ruling in 1973," he explained.

Following the speech, the Anti-Defamation League called on presidential candidate Mike Huckabee to refrain from invoking Holocaust imagery in future comments on the campaign trail.

In a letter to Governor Huckabee, ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman said: "The Holocaust was a unique tragedy in human history."

"We find the use of analogies to the Holocaust in other contexts deeply painful, disturbing and offensive," Foxman said. "Such analogies can only trivialize and diminish the horror, and cause further pain to Holocaust survivors and to those alive today who lost friends and loved ones."

But pro-life advocates have now come to Huckabee's defense saying that his use of the term was not meant as an offense to Jewish people but to underscore the equal tragedy in the destruction of human life.

Kristi Hamrick, a spokeswoman for the Campaign for Working Families, told The Jewish Daily Forward, “I’m surprised that it’s considered controversial when that is a common reference."

“Among pro-lifers, both events are seen as tragic, but the death toll now from abortion is between 40 and 50 million in the United States since 1973," Hamrick explained. "Now that’s a huge number of people who are dead and gone.”

Asked if he approved of Huckabee’s use of the word “holocaust,” Marvin Olasky, a conservative columnist and onetime Bush adviser, told the newspaper, he believed the word was “objectively” accurate.

Olasky said Huckabee used the term “honestly and respectfully" but he is generally “subjectively uncomfortable” with the word’s adoption by those who oppose legalized abortion.

Huckabee has been picking up more support lately in the polls, in part because some of the pro-life advocates who had been in Sam Brownback's camp shifted to him.

Olafsky’s kidding right? He should turn that queen of diamonds face down.

Objective, Subjective... Let him tell it to the Almighty... let’s see how that goes over.

I tell ya, some folks are working really hard to make the right eat their own and fomenting racial division all over the place... and i’m keeping track of who they are.

Huck, preach the gospel, in season or out of season.

I can’t remember where I read the phrase “Black Holocaust,” but it stuck in my mind, especially thinking of Margaret Sanger.

It’s not a holocaust because its victims aren’t burned in ovens. The word holocaust originally described a Jewish burnt offering to Yahweh and often appears in this context in the Old Testament after Greek translation. The word applies to the Holocaust because the Nazis often incinerated the bodies of the Jews whom they killed. In this sense, feticide even on a demographic scale doesn’t qualify as a holocaust because the bodies of the victims aren’t consumed in fire.

The Jews who Nazis burned really aren't exactly a 'burned offering' either because Nazis weren't Jews and weren't killing the Jews for religious reasons. Or so it seems to me.

It's an interesting word choice, in any event.

I wasn't being picky...I just like to be accurate.

FWIW, I totally agree with Preacher Mike on this one. We are at loggerheads though when he extends his Christian charity (using my money) to illegal aliens.

ADL can pound sand. The abortionists have slaughtered far more innocent folks than Hitler's National Socialists murdered, and they're still in business.

"Holocaust" is an appropriate reference.

The abortionists in the United States have murdered more innocent people in the past thirty five years than Hitler and Stalin COMBINED and if nothing is done, the death toll will be more than Hitler, Stalin and Mao within a decade.

Holocaust is just a word. It means “a sacrifice consumed through fire.” Jews do not have exclusive claim to the term. The destruction of the MGM Grand could have been termed a holocaust. The ADL needs to get over itself.

I think Foxman must put “Offense-Taker” on the occupation line of his tax return. I hope most Jews are embarrassed by the clown.

I like Olasky a lot, but he has a tendency to confuse squeamishness with righteousness. He once wrote a column essentially begging Ann Coulter to tone down her rhetoric, I suppose because that made him "subjectively uncomfortable", too (is there such a thing as "objective discomfort"?).

True, but can you cite where eugenics is driving any particular set of actions? It's mostly academic gum flapping with no practical implementation.

Contemplate the religious fervor associated with the pro-abortion advocacy. The societal practice of abortion is ritual mass murder upon the altars of conceit dedicated to idolatrous vanities, a collective human sacrifice before pagan idols.

It has a similitude to the Teutonic paganism of Adolph Hitler (whose idolatry was the idea of a "master race," among other things). In effect, these genocides are a mass human sacrifice to those pagan idols. The abortionists, like the National Socialists, incinerate the remains of their victims.

Aleister Crowley, who openly supported the National Socialists, was affiliated with Ordo Templi Orientis, Golden Dawn, A.A. (Order of the Silver Star) and other such occult lodges all across Germany. Crowley engaged in all manner of deviancy, homoeroticism, sadomasochism and murder. Much of the occultism in National Socialism is derived directly from there.

Crowley envisioned himself as the Great Beast (Το Μεγα Θηριον), just as der Fuhrer made himself in that image. Hitler's life as a struggling, inept artist was where that association blossomed.

Crowley's creed, "Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the Law," (which is actually from Francois Rabelais) and used by Neo-Pagan nutcases without attribution for obvious politically correct reasons, is with certainty no different than the National Socialist "will to power," or their ubermensch mentality.

It is also no accident Nietzsche's "over-man" and nihilist philosophy and resulting insanity from venereal disease closely mirrors the insanity of der Fuhrer. These occult orders, sex and drug cults still survive today, as do the Neo-pagan, Neo-Nazi groups, black supremacist Rastafarian potheads, prison gangs and other related filth.

Crowley occultism is also from where L. Ron Hubbard emerges with Scientology. Note the NAZI symbolism of that kooky cult. Germany cracked down hard on the Scientologists for that reason and because they are using similar mind control techniques.

I was given this poem this morning. As I tell others, I’m just the secretary, God gives the words. Use it if you like it.

Mike

What if Jesus was taken from Mary
Before he had a name
What if He had been rejected
Before His birthday ever came

This world would be in turmoil
Sin and idols everywhere
We would all be living for ourselves
No one else to care

No one there to die for us
No one to show us love
If God had not sent His Son
Down from Heav’n above

What if Jesus had not walked for us
To show us The Way
This world would be an even angrier place
Far worse than it is today

The Laws would be much harsher
Weighted down by stringent rules
Those wanting love and freedom
Would be jailed and thought as fools

But Jesus was there for us
To give His life for sin
And as we accept Him
Our lives begin again

Jesus loves the little children
Before we give them names
If our mothers had rejected us
Would this world be the same?

We must love the little children
Before they have a voice
And wait for an answer from them
Before we make a choice

This Christmas I give thanks
Jesus was born from up above
That Mary gave Him a voice
For her heart new only love

That Joseph bore the burden
That could have meant shame
That they cared for little Jesus
So the world would know His name
