"The Laura Ingraham Show"
October 31, 2007
Governor Romney On Senator Clinton And Driver's Licenses For Illegal Immigrants:
Laura Ingraham: "Did you think that Hillary got hit at all or wounded or did they really not really give her many body blows."
Governor Romney: "No, I didn't think she took many body blows. She demonstrated herself – she was tap dancing so much that I thought I turned it to 'Dancing with the Stars.' She was refusing to answer the most straight questions that were given to her. 'Do you support illegal aliens receiving driver's licenses?' And she pretended like she wasn't in favor, but she clearly was in favor and the conclusion that anyone in the audience had to reach was she is in favor, but she didn't want to actually say it. It was a bob-and-weave show by Hillary Clinton with everybody else trying in a very gentle and ginger way to land a blow. But they didn't really land any knockout punches."

Governor Romney On Enforcing Immigration Laws:
Laura Ingraham: "Speaking of this issue of the driver's licenses for illegals, as you know Governor Romney, towns, states, cities, localities across America have tried to put into place some common-sense measures to either remove incentives for illegals to move into those areas or to crack down on people hiring illegals and so forth. But yesterday Rudy Giuliani said that, look, the Feds are trying to put responsibility for all of this on employers and on city government and on state government, and this should always be a federal issue. And my question to you is, are you going to say that same thing, should cities and towns not be able to do what they think they need to do to help the environment in their own communities?"
Governor Romney: "Well, it's consistent with his posture as Mayor, but he not only suggested that it was the Fed's responsibility, he actually went the other way around and said, as you know, he said, 'Look, if you happen to be in undocumented status,' which is code for an illegal alien, 'we welcome you to our city and we will protect you in our city.' That kind of attitude, that sanctuary city attitude is something we have to stop. And localities, businesses, all of us have to make sure that we don't do something which gives an imprimatur of acceptability or of apparent legality to people who come here illegally. So when a city says they can come to their city without worrying about losing benefits if they're illegal, when an employer hires people they know that are illegal, when a state says we're going to give you driver's licenses even though you're illegal, it says to somebody who's come here illegally, 'Hey, it's okay, they really don't care.' And that's simply wrong."

Democrats and Republicans have known Mr. and Mrs. Clinton to be highly skilled liars for years. Heck, during the Clinton years I remember one commentator actually expressed admiration for Mr. Clinton's ability to lie convincingly. So, when it comes to this last debate, particularly amongst her core constituency, that she fudged the truth and outright lied in the debate is not only acceptable but expected and admirable. Hurt her? Not likely. This will only put off some undecideds temporarily, nothing more.
Don’t look back Romney supporters. Huckabee could knock him off in Iowa. If so, it’s curtain time.
The Clintons both have strong personal beliefs that drive them to seek the Presidency. Bill got into politics because he thought was a good way to meet women. Hillary got in because she thinks it is a good way force her worldview on the rest of us.
Romney supported the McCain-Kennedy Scamnesty bill in the summertime. He considered it “reasonable.”

And to meet women.
Agree - except for your term "skilled."
I always view a skill as something along the line of something that can be used to 'better ones-self' -- NOT to get over on unsuspecting listeners.
It would be more appropriate to say, "Mr. and Mrs. Clinton are known to be highly DESPICABLE liars...."
I know that being picky, but I can't stand to see sHrillary get ANY type of accolade, even if its negative.
and Jesse Jackson
And Huma.
“she was tap dancing so much that I thought I turned it to ‘Dancing with the Stars.”
Good line.
"Nancy, who is this clown standing in front of me?"
great line, lol.
Damn, this guy is impressibe. Can you imagine anyone else using this word in a sentence.
“impressive”
Many conservatives could find certain portions of the flawed McCain-Kennedy shamnesty bill "reasonable," while not supporting it in full, as written. Similarly, Mitt could support certain campaign finance reforms without supporting the flawed McCain-Feingold-Thompson CFR bill as well. No conservative in his right mind would support - in full - either of those bills as written, even though they may contain certain reasonable provisions.
The HUGE difference between then and now is the Z-visa in the McCain-Kennedy bill. Those who try to use the old interviews against Mitt either do not know what they are talking about, don't understand the consequences of the addition of the Z visa -- or both.
"The Z visa is a deal breaker for many people. I'm not sure the McCain team [or the Thompson team] really gets that yet or they are being extremely disingenuous trying to equate the two knowing that the average voter [Freeper?] is too dumb to figure out the difference. Theres an old rule in Washington that in dealing with any tough issue, half the politicians hope that citizens dont understand it, while the other half fear that people actually do. John Fund

Romney is still the only top-tier candidate to flatly reject McCain's Z visa.
Governor Romney: "I strongly oppose today's bill going through the Senate. It is the wrong approach. Any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country indefinitely, as the new 'Z-Visa' does, is a form of amnesty.
Governor Romney: "The immigration bill failed because the politicians in Washington are out of touch with the American people. The voice of the people is loud and clear - secure the border, enforce the law and no special deal for permanent residency or citizenship for illegals. America will always welcome legal immigration, but as a nation we also insist on the rule of law." (Governor Romney On Today's Senate Immigration Vote, June 28, 2007
Thanks for the pic, RG. : )
