NYT has breaking news: Fred Thompson was an actor
New York Times ^

Posted on 11/03/2007 7:36:18 PM PDT by jaybeegee

In a move that's mystifying even for the Old Grey Lady, the New York Times has an article and video up about Presidential candidate Fred Thompson. The article, oh-so-cleverly titled "‘Law & Order’ Candidate (Chung-chung)" reveals nothing new and manages to re-hash the old conventional wisdom about Fred.

The short version: Fred has been both politician and actor and sometimes he plays conservatives on teevee and that's funny because he's really conservative in real life and because of that there's this whole life-imitating-art quality to his career and maybe he's just acting like he's running for President because he's an actor. And, yes, the whole article does read like one gigantic run-on sentence.

If the NYT says it...I’m not too sure it’s true anymore...

Going on a mission like this without an actor is suicide. Like pigs being led to the slaughter.

The first role he played was as himself and he has been type-cast ever since. What you’ve seen is what you’ll get.

I trust the man!

You may have seen that ARBY’s commercial that has those monkeys line dancing that Irish jig. Well, they hired all the senior NYT reporters for that commercial. I understand it was a heck of a task getting them to dance, although they are completely used to jumping in line at any finger snap.

“Wonder if they know he was a Senator?”

I doubt it. Since they called Thompson a conservative in real life, they obviously didn’t look at his senate record.

Yea...and Ronald Regan was an actor and made no real contribution to our Nation.

The MSM is getting very vexed about the probability of Fred Thompson winning the White House.

I hope he kicks ass and takes name on MTP in the morning. I also hope Russert is tough as nails on him. The tougher the questions, the tougher Fred will get. If I were Russert, I wouldn’t want to piss this big man off. I bet the ratings for tomorrow's show will be huge…huge!

O'Reilly is really getting flustered that Fred won't come on the Factor with him. Maybe this will loosen things up a bit? If he can handle Russert, he can handle O’Reilly.

Fred has an ACU rating of 86, Duncan 92, they both have a fine conservative record. I know sarcasm can be fun but its more fun if it is founded in truth.

It is really an OK article, you know he was also a nationally known lawyer before he first walked onto a movie set at age 42.

I didn’t know that he was hired on Law and Order to help correct what they felt was a total slide into liberalism, I have been watching TV for about 2 or 3 years now and have seen a lot of Law and Order, his role was an important political statement.
