Pray for Bush Day 2607

Father God, We come to You today trusting in Your Sovereignty and love. Lord, as we look out at our world, it seems so much is upside down. We have people leading this nation that do not even appear to love it. People who refuse to honor its flag and insult the traditions by which we show our thankfulness for the gift of being Americans. Elsewhere, we have those for whom corruption is a way of life and the destruction of people is a game. How sad and how wicked we have become. And yet, we have comfort. For we know that You, our God, are in control.

Father, when that soldier overseas does not come home to his wife and newborn child, you are still in control. When the diagnosis is malignant, you are in control. When the loved one is wayward, you are in control. True, the sun shines upon the good and the wicked just as the rain falls on every human being. And yet, those who are Your children can rest knowing that nothing befalls us unless You allow it, nothing happens without a reason, and that You are with us through it all. Thank You for Your sovereignty and for knowing that when we can not trace Your hand, we can trust Your heart.

Father, I pray for President Bush. Undergird Him with Your power and strength and give him power over his enemies and the enemies of Your truth. Help him to be a shining example of a Christ-like leader. And renew His spirit so that He will desire to Your will and Yours alone.

Be with our dear military personnel Lord, so far from home and many in perilous situations. Protect them. Guide them to You. And give them peace in every way.

I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the Middle East. I pray for the situation in Pakistan. Lord, make Your power known in all the earth.

Go with us I pray and may we be a blessing to You. For it is in the precious and holy name of Christ Jesus my Lord that I pray these things, Amen.
