Well, it sure is evident that Thompson isn’t trying to win South Carolina.
At least not very hard.
The fact that a Mormon from Massachusetts is in striking distance there ought to show as much. And now he’s complaining that someone is outworking him and putting his money where his mouth is.
But hey, he’s named Fred and was in lots of picture shows. That should be enough.
Guess what happens when Fred decides to really advertise?
You got it.....Mitt gets flushed.
Why is it you anti-Freds think that movies are all Fred has done? Are you not aware of anything else but the acting? Are you that limited in your thinking and research?
How lame.
It is too bad that Fred does not see fit to spend $650 per voter for some stupid straw polls. Maybe then he would have more appeal to the savvy politicos out there....
What does “We don’t have need” mean.
I realize that Fred is probably leading in South Carolina, but to me it says, "Hey you guys aren't worth my money, your gonna give me the delegates anyway." His whole campaign to me is almost like an entitlement, and that includes a lot of his supporters here who try and tell other candidate supporters that they should abandon their candidates and rally behind Fred because he is the "real conservative that can win".
And he’s got the right accent for South Carolina voters, too. That’s sure to win some votes. It doesn’t matter what he believes or how good a candidate he is or whether he can beat Hillary. (He can’t.)
Tim Russert suggested to him in the interview on Sunday that it appears he’s lost a lot of weight. Fred’s response—it’s because he’s exercising and watching his cholesterol. Please! Don’t make me laugh. He also admitted that he’s just had some “tests.” Why? Here’s the most likely reason: The doctors are checking his blood count which is required when you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It’s done frequently to determine if it’s necessary to start chemo again, in other words, to determine if the cancer has come out of remission. The doctors don’t know what they’re going to find because the disease is unpredictable. That’s why blood tests on a regular basis are necessary.
The fact that his disease is currently in remission doesn’t mean that it will remain so. It is not unlikely that it will be necessary for Thompson to restart intravenous chemotherapy, perhaps just as he’s entering the toughest part of the campaign should he unfortunately be the nominee of the Republican party. That’s a recipe for disaster.
And, by the way, Thompson also suggested that he expects to live quite a while and die of something else. Precisely. Doctors advised my father that non-Hodgkins patients with their weakened immune systems often die of infections and pneumonia before the disease actually kills them. To claim, as Thompson seems to be, that it is unlikely the disease will kill him is not being quite truthful.
The fact that he dodged and weaved and wouldn’t answer Russert’s question about whether or not he’ll release his medical records is also telling. If you have a serious, debilitating, terminal cancer that requires chemotherapy to try to keep you alive, and you are running for president, you should be required to release your medical records. I don’t care what your name is or what television show you’ve been on, or how folksy you are.
Do you get paid for posting this crap, or are you a volunteer?
Folks tend to believe lies and distortions because the truth is so hard to recognize these days, it’s just way our society has become.
Therefore, your candidate will do well.
In the end, I think FRed will overcome the odds of this phenomena, and the overwhelming odds of myth’s money and support of the msm.
Hey, I'm not a big Fred supporter (although I love the idea of a US PResident named FRED) - but that is a low blow, for a Republican.
Fred was (and still is to some extent) a power in Washington DC thru much of the 1990s, and was a very effective US Senator.
The fact is he an actor is NOT a detriment, nor is it something to be ridiculed.
Nevermind the fact that "the Mormon" has been campaigning like a madman and blowing millions on the state for months now. The fact that Romney is ONLY "in striking distance" says quite the opposite of what you'd like for it to say.
