Gail Collins: Rudy Was 'Busy Committing Adultery'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/08/2007 4:16:12 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Over the course of his political career, Bill Clinton was literally and figuratively embraced by countless pastors, most of whom presumably went to their pulpits on Sunday to preach traditional values, including marital fidelity. If memory serves, neither Gail Collins nor other liberal pundits noted any irony in people of the cloth endorsing the spectacularly straying Clinton.

But let a preacher praise a Republican with a personal history, and Gail Collins thunders like Billy Sunday with a bad migraine. Here's the opening paragraph of her "Pat Loves Rudy" in today's New York Times [emphasis added]:

"Back in mid-2001, when Mayor Rudy Giuliani was busy committing adultery, lurching into his divorce and third marriage and rooming with a gay couple he promised to marry as soon as the law allowed, who among us would have imagined that one day he would be endorsed for president by Pat Robertson?"

A little note, before the inevitable clot of head-bobbling Giuliani apologists shows up to yowl and gibber, re: their idiotic rote "it's all about terrorism!" meme:

Anyone who genuinely believes a pro-illegal immigration, pro-”sanctuary city” stance (such as Giuliani’s) does ANYthing whatsoever to enhance their safety from terrorist attacks is — plainly and simply — too bone @#$%ing stupid to be allowed to vote, come Election Day.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

". . . rooming with a gay couple he promised to marry as soon as the law allowed. . .

Pat Robertson obviously sees a political integrity here that will serve our Country; and in FAR greater measure, than anything Hillary or 'Clinton, Inc.' will ever offer.

It really does show a measure of desperation as one pits themselves against a greater evil. At least Rudy, impure as he might be or has been; can recognize more fully, the weaknesses and the threat they present, in the form of the Hildabeaste.

An evil Clinton ignorance, I might add; that GW - and his Father as well, for that matter;never fully grasped.

The thrust of the newsbusters piece is not that Giuliani is a good guy or that we should support Giuliani, but that the liberals suddenly have something against adultery now that their man Bill isn’t in the WH. Try to stay on the same page as the posted article, and not wander back into your own head. It makes it more interesting for the rest of us.

If Rudy were running for the “Dim” nomination, we would be bashing his pro-amnesty, pro abortion as a means of birth control, pro gun ban, pro homosexual agenda platform and rightfully so.

I want defend America from the Terrorist, and I’ll wager that I’ve done more in that regard than Rudy has; however, I don’t want to save America just to see it degenerate into one big San Francisco. Maybe that process is inevitable, but I just don’t think we should be nominating a guy who is likely to encourage the leftist agenda.

Oh, and please don’t reply with that #@$% “Rudy says he’ll appoint strict constructionist judges”. The man has already said that he considers the right to an abortion a constitutional right. According to Rudy, Ruth Ginsberg would be a strict constructionist.

What’s the difference from Rudy’s pro immigration, sanctuary and GW, except I guess Rudy has said he is or was or still is?

GW for it.
RNC for it.
Republican donors for it.
Republican farmers for it.
Heck even the Army is for it.
Ditto Democrats and their party and the Libertarians.

Personally, I’d like a East German style borders with shoot to kill. Or even a real border. It does seem that at the local level, being for the border is effective. So, maybe the people can get something done, however Washington has seen these popular storms come and go. I'll bet they'll just hunker down.

Rudy = The death of the conservative movement. Personally, I would rather risk her thighness for 4 years, than condem the Legacy of Ronaldus Magnus to the dustbin of history.

The pubbies had better figure that one out. Guiliani=Third party=Hillary Presidency.

You’d think the pubbies would be smarter than to let that happen, wouldn’t you?

The man has already said that he considers the right to an abortion a constitutional right.

And the Supreme Court agrees.

How very true.

Advice to Rooty apologists: Get used to it. This is only the beginning.

The media will work overtime if Rooty is selected to make sure everyone knows everything about Rooty's past. Like it or not.

They can cry that the Clinton's are no better, which is true...but, the media will not care. They have a big D by their name.

A Rooty selection will cause another Foley-like reaction, when all the people out in America are fed the facts and photos they have yet to see plastered on their TV screens and in their newspapers.

This election is not going to be all about terrorism, it will be more about border security, the fence, and illegal immigration. Rooty fails on this issue.

Anyway, it’s not going to happen. It’s going to be President Fred Thompson.

3rd Party = President Hillary Clinton

Maybe that's not so bad a thing.

Think about it. The Republicans accomplished more real reform under Clinton I than they have under a Republican president who is intent on granting amnesty and bloating the federal government.

What worse could Hillary do?

I, for one, am tired of being taken for granted for so-called "conservatives." It is time for a viable 3rd party to emerge that can be a swing vote in presidential elections.

Do you even know what the subject of this posted article is? Do you think you could guess the right answer on a mutiple-choice question?

a) Rudy is good.
b) Rudy is great.
c) Rudy is the man.
d) Liberals have suddenly found adultery to be bad.
e) none of the above
f) all of the above

Here's what this commie bit¢h recently wrote referring to Joe Lieberman:

"If it hadn't been for his unhelpful performance in Florida after the 2000 election, perhaps Al Gore would be president now and there would be peace and global cooling throughout the planet."

A vote for Rudy in the primaries is a vote for Mrs. Bill Clinton in the general.
