Police: Burned, Headless Body Of Sex Offender Found

NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP -- Construction crews found a torched and headless body Thursday morning on Hidden Ridge Drive in Northville Township.
Police were able to identify the body as 26-year-old Daniel Gene-Vincent Sorensen by using a partial fingerprint technique, despite the severe burns on Sorensen’s hands. Police said the severely burned hands seemed to be an effort to hide his identity.
Police confirmed that Sorensen was a registered sex offender.
A neighbor called to report a fire on Wednesday night, sometime between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m., according to police.
Police said they believe the man was killed elsewhere and then dropped off in the newly developed subdivision.
A Northville Township Water and Sewage crew found the body while checking on a hydrant.
Police said there were no clothes on the torso.
Search and rescue dogs were called to the scene to search for the victim’s head.
Police said they do not have any suspects at this time.
This was probably one of those rare instances of spontaneous combustion I have read about.
Just saw this on the news. All I can say right now is, “Damn!”
The murderer is as probable to be a criminal (before the murder--he obviously is one now) who merely too advantage of the victim being from the 'scum of society,' realizing that there would not be much outrage that the man was murdered as the murderer is to have murdered in a misguided attempt at 'justice.'
My take is, some sexual offenders may not be total monsters. (Gasp!!) It doesn’t sound to me like there was any measure of prudence in the retaliation for the crime. Not knowing all the facts, he could possibly have been 18 and his “victim” 15. I am not speaking from personal experience, but it seems to me a bit harsh to be branded as a sex offender for life over such an infraction. Then again, the murder might not have anything to do with the sex crime.

What I don’t get is why people aren’t more hopped up to kill convicts who have been released after serving 8 years for MURDER.
Most everyone has a real soft spot for kids, especially girls it is the natural reaction of all mammals to protect their young. It’s natural to want to kill someone who would harm a child especially sexually.
Killing an adult strikes a different cord in people than harming a child. Adults are naturally expected to die at some point and lack the aura of innocence.
Now if you add to your scenario of murder that the murder had molested and killed a child then was released after 8 years everyone would want to kill such a person.

Clearly. It is the way all masochists want to go. But it is very difficult to pull off. He was successful.

So the world is short one sex offender. It’s also got one person who strips people naked, cuts off their heads, and burns them. Hardly the occasion for the celebration that the armchair vigilantes are undertaking. (I think the murderer got his idea from the pilot episode of Millennium, btw. If they start digging up coffins with PESTE written on them, I’m outta here!)

I think one of the scum who killed a little girl in California had spent 4-8 years (can’t recall exactly how long) in prison for kidnapping and CHILD RAPE.
I am stunned that we have the ability to lock SOME people up for decades for crimes that do not indicate they are beyond redemption but we have multitudes of people out in 8-10 years for serious manslaughter and murder charges.
I agree with you on the “why” but a truly moral person can see that a 24 year old man (someone’s son, someone’s young husband or father) getting killed for no good reason is as evil as a child being killed.
We laugh at Europe for their sentencing but effectively, we are no different than they are, when it comes to time served though we have improved.
Coincidentally, it turns out he weighs exactly as much as a duck.
