Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., is upset about Senate maneuvering on $3 billion for border security projects.
Senators are undecided whether the money should be part of a Department of Homeland Security spending bill or a spending bill for the Pentagon.
President Bush has threatened to veto the Homeland Security bill, and Democrats on Wednesday removed the border spending from the Pentagon bill.
``It is critical for Arizona that this funding be adopted," Kyl declared.
``Public opinion on this is very, very clear. They want us to continue with not just the fence, the money is here for that, but also for hiring new Border Patrol agents, for new detention spaces, for vehicle barriers and a variety of other things that help us control the border."
Kyl said he believes Democrats wanted to put the border funding in a bill that the president is more likely to veto. Democrats said it's redundant to put the border spending in more than one bill.
Three BILLION dollars - approved! The fence could have been built months ago. This is unbelievable.

LOL!
It’s good to see Kyl come back to a solid pro- position on this issue.
His support of this summer’s amnesty (comprehensive reform) legislation was very disheartening.
There are just no words for these treason sell outs.
Yeah, but I got the big list...LOL!
((((((BUILD THE FENCE))))))
I’m listening to Glenn Beck’s TV show about the border
My wife re-registered as an Independent as well.
I am Conservative to the core, but never will be beholden to the RINO’s who sold us out these past years. I don’t place Kyl in the RINO camp, but he has been very ineffectual these past three years.
As for his sidekick from Arizona: Forget McCain. Dumb as a brick and Machiavellian at the same time. What that man did to his first wife is unforgivable — even beset wit the problems she had! Naval Officers simply do not cut and run!
And, McCain did just that!
It seems to me that Dems (and sometimes RINOs) will stop at nothing to get their way for the benefit of illegal aliens. In August, the Dem speaker pro tem McNulty called a vote which would deny money to illegals as not passed, when in fact it had passed.
The same Dems that showed a big “Honesty in Government” banner when they took control after the 2006 elections. Sleazy hypocrites.
True, but I'm still wondering why. It can't simply be for the prospect of getting their votes one day. What does it get them today?
We don't have such short memories, Senator.
Thanks. I have nothing nice to say so will keep my mouth shut :)
>>It can’t simply be for the prospect of getting their votes one day. What does it get them today?<<
I am not a mind reader, but some possibilities:
- They get campaign contributions from socio-ethnocentric and business groups, and they get organized boots on the ground to work for their campaigns
- They believe the MSM, which says Latinos will vote for them if they pander to illegals
- The illegals may vote more than we expect this time
- The herd mentality. It’s what most of the other Dems are doing
