South Texas man busted after reporting pot theft

McALLEN, Texas — A man was arrested for drug possession after telling authorities that two masked gunmen had stolen 150 pounds of marijuana from his home.

Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies arrived at the home near Penitas in South Texas to find the door kicked in and nearly 15 pounds of pot lying on the floor, Sheriff Lupe Trevino said.

Jose Guadalupe Flores, 35, escaped while the men ransacked the house but returned later and told the deputies he had been wrapping the drugs for shipment when the intruders arrived.

"The guy walked right up and said the drugs were his," Trevino said. "That's not the smartest move."

Flores, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was charged with felony possession of marijuana at an arraignment hearing Monday. Because of his immigration status, Flores will be jailed until his case is heard.

Authorities were still searching for the gunmen.

Seems Mr. Flores has been sampling too much of his own product.

So a entrepreneurial gardener is imprisoned while two dangerously violent criminals are free. Gotta love the Drug War, eh?

Flores was probably figuring that, like Mexican cops, the Hidalgo Sherrifs would sublet themselves out for his protection for a small cut of his gross take.

Just packaging up the Mexican dirt weed Americans won’t!
He was probably hoping they’d hit or shoot him so he could be the next immigration lottery winner.

""So a entrepreneurial gardener is imprisoned while two dangerously violent criminals are free""

Flores... was charged with felony possession of marijuana

If he had been an "entrepreneurial gardener" he would have been charged with manufacture not possession.

While I support the legalization of *all* drugs, not just wussy ones like marijuana, I don’t want to hear anything about them not causing brain damage.

This guy should be in jail for felony stupid.

Even geniuses do stuff like that.

Alan Turing (Turing machine concept, WWII codebreaker) was a confirmed bachelor, and one of his "friends" stole from him. He reported the theft, how he knew the guy, etc., and they locked Turing up for buggery or what ever the Brits called it, for a few years.

I heard on the radio yesterday about some guy that kept calling 911 saying "I want a beer!".

It's getting bad out there.
