Gov. Spitzer's spectacular political crash-and-burn, reflected in a stunning Siena College poll, seems to have had an immediate effect: The governor will deep-six his ludicrous driver's-licenses-for-illegal-aliens proposal..........Elected a year ago with 69% of the vote (widest victory margin in state history), Spitzer can now claim support from just 25% of voters. Almost twice that, 49%, say they'd back "someone else," were the next gubernatorial election held today.

HILLARY FLUBS IT Hillary Clinton went against the wishes of enormous grassroots opposition when she flubbed her debate answer to a nitwit plan by Gov Spitzer to give license illegal. The next day Hillary sought to "clarify" her position by inexplicably endorsing the sure-fail Spitzer licensng plan. How dumb can Dims get?
GIULIANI'S HOMELAND PICK DUMB ENOUGH In October 2007, licensing illegals hit the headlines when NY state Gov Spitzer announced his plan to license illegals---a move that was expected to sail through the process. Spitzer then rounded up the usual suspects---hyphenate fellaters eager to facilitate vote-fraud.
In a statement released by Spitzers office October 2007, Chief Bratton enforsed the licensing plan, saying: "As former Commissioner of the New York City Police Department and now Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (since 2002), I support efforts that have the potential to solve crimes and improve traffic safety. Thats why I backed legislation in California that would give undocumented immigrants the ability to get a drivers license once they have provided proof of their identification. It is my belief that by doing that you would reduce the number of hit and runs and increase the number of insured motorists on the road. We would also now have undocumented immigrants identifying information on record such as photographs and addresses which could prove helpful in the fight against crime and terrorism. "

In a NY magazine interview, Rudy Giuliani expressed his willingness to appoint Bratton as Homeland Security Secretary in a Giuliani admin. Earlier, in a hissy fit over Bratton's high media profile, Mayor Rudy fired Bratton as NYC police chief b/c Bratton was standing in Rudy's spotlight.

For perspective, Rasmussen Tuesday, November 13, 2007
“Thirty-five percent (35%) of American adults approve of the
way that George W. Bush is performing his job as President.”
And that took seven years to accomplish, not just one year. And it’s still substantially higher then Spitzer scores.
As for Hillary though the Spitzer license fiasco won’t hurt her long term. Democrat ranks will close come election time, and the “old news” mantra will ring.
ROTFLOL-—tee shirt slogan about sums up the flopola little termite.
"Hillary, your post-debate polling data doesn't look too good for the legacy."
"Drop dead, Bill."
Thanks for posting. BTTT!
"Drop dead, Bill."
There is probably more truth in that than anyone realizes. I've thought for a long time that Hil and Bill will eventually be at each other's throats before this campaign is over. You can't expect to egos as large as those two have to mesh forever. The nuclear meltdown is coming and my cupboards are well stocked with popcorn in preparation for the coming entertainment......
Wait ... it gets worse ... Gov. Queeg now wants to put an 8.75% sales tax on all internet purchases. Were NY State California, the recall effort would already be well underway.
democrats and power...a dangerous mix.
How disconcerting for them to learn that pleasing the media masters and the open borders crowd (who screech the loudest) isn’t the way to be “loved” by those average citizens.
I am beginning to believe that most of the pols really are wrapped in their own little insulated cocoons of sycophants and the self-proclaimed “enlightened” and those pols believe that what they hear from their own cocktail party in-crowd and the MSM is anywhere close to the truth.
Is there anything more satisfying than seeing an an arrogant POS like Spitzer get their come uppance?
Nothing even comes close...........well maybe Hillary in free-fall.
Liberalism is a mental disorder and detrimental to ones governorship.I cant believe someone as smart as this guy is so out of touch.
Is he gonna shelve the plan from DC?
Actually, there already is a sales tax on all internet purchases if you live in NY. If the internet company did not collect any New York State or local sales tax or you did not pay the correct amount of tax on the purchase of a taxable item or service, you must report the amount of any additional New York State and local sales or use tax due on your personal income tax return.
Now NYS has not yet been very agressive at enforcing this but what they have done is to put the line on the return as a “voluntary” disclosure item. Now if NYS happens to “come across” records that show such a purchase was made but unreported, the filer has now committed a crime. THis allows the State to pretty much demand any settlement penalty that they wish. Leave it to the lawyers to set a trap like that. I’ve been told by a few CPA friends of mine that it is only a matter of time before they actively begin enforcing it. This was originally floated as a way to tax the cigarette purchases on the Indian reservations, it just happened that the internet fell neatly into the framework and, of course, has so much more revenue potential.
Too bad, I thought he would be stupid enough to hold on for a few more weeks.
"Drop dead, Bill."
Spot on perfect, except that Bill would always capitalize "Legacy", even verbally.
With Troopergate heating up and All the Governor’s Men being called to testify again Eliot Mess is probably going to wish the licenses-for-votes scam hadn’t gone away. I’m beginning to wonder if he’ll even finish out his term. At least he will have accomplished one thing, stopping those smokers at the State Fair was a real pressing problem, thanks Eliot.
