The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today announced that OfficeMax, a leading office products retailer, has joined a growing list of companies that have stopped advertising on Michael Savage's nationally-syndicated radio program because of the host's anti-Muslim views. CAIR recently reported that Savage, whose "The Savage Nation" airs on more than 300 radio stations nationwide, screamed attacks on Muslims, Islam and the Quran, Islam's revealed text, during his October 29, 2007, program. I didn’t realize that Office Max was still in business.
Sigh. And I just shopped there yesterday. Time to send an email.
I just sent them an email to let them know my business will no longer patronize their’s, as their caving in to such an extremist organization as CAIR is not something I want to be associated with.
I think in some locales, they’ve closed all their retail stores, but you can still order online and I think even get truck delivery in a day or two. And not common carrier truckes either, OfficeMax trucks, so they must still have distribution centers spread around.
Office Max will not see a dime of my money.

I do a couple of hundred with Office Max a year. I sent them an e-mail on their site to let them know I’m gone unless they change their mind.
No Office Max for me. Perhaps they might try to start putting their business signs in Arabic so as to please their new clientelle. Oh, they’ll have to start selling explosives also.

I think you guys closed your store near me so maybe you don't care about me. I sort of randomly choose between Staples, Office Depot and you when I have a choice. But I won't anymore.ML/NJI'm not much of a Michael Savage fan. Small doses is all I can take. But I'm much less of a fan of CAIR and Islam, or anyone who caves to their "pressure." We are at war with these folks and you are supporting the enemy. This American won't forget.

The guy I spoke to, Bob, claims the ads were dropped but not because of any complaints. It was a marketing decision (riiight).

Eventually it got bought and moved to Chicago.

I was appalled that your company has joined with CAIR and Islamic radical front group to attempt to censor the opinions of talk host Michael Savage.
I don't agree with Savage a lot of the time but I find him entertaining. It's too bad that a small but very loud group can intimidate your company in its advertising policies. You have every right to advertise where ever you want, but since you have offended me, I won't be shopping at your stores in the future if this decision stands.
Moreover I'm going to go into my place of employment and collect all the Office Max catalogs and toss them in the trash and instruct the mail room to do so in the future. I will also direct the IT department to do a global search for any bookmarks or links to Office Max and delete them from the system and all the machines running on it.
There are far more average Americans who are concerned by the kind of hollow intimidation that your company caved in to, than there are members of the noisy front group CAIR.
It was a bad business decision, it's not too late to undo it.

What wrong with Savage lately? He’s sounds like he is on Prozac and just reading scripted questions to a pre-recorded interview.

Same here. I would even go as far as saying I Hate his show, but this assault on free speech won’t go unpunished. Goodbye Office Max.

Office Max just lost my business. I’m not the biggest Savage listener (sometimes his rants and yelling drive me nuts), but to bow to CAIR is intolerable. There are many other places selling office products.
I just emailed them that they have lost my business because they caved to an extreme group that has no interest in American-Islamic relations and is an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism case, and that I will do everything in my power to convince others to stop shopping at OfficeMax.

I hate CAIR. I hate Savage. So it’s a wash.
I love Savage. When he goes on a rant I can’t stand, I just turn him off for a bit, and then back on when he’s done. Works like a charm. But for the most part, I agree with most of what he says. Plus he’s funny, witty, very bright, and is a great raconteur. One of the best storytellers around. He paints wonderful pictures with words. He’s eccentric, and I’ve always had a soft spot for eccentrics. A one of a kind character. And most of all he believes whole heartedly in language, borders, and culture, OUR culture, and not that of any third world country trying to dilute or destroy our culture. Savage understands what’s really happening to our country, and it ain’t pretty.
Ditto for me on both counts. I don't patronize businesses run by ACLU-loving, round-heeled namby-pambys.

Just sent an e-mail to Office Max telling them that they just lost me as a customer and that I will spread the word to friends and family. Told them that it was sickening to see them cave in to the demands of a subersive group such as cair to silence an American’s right to free speech.
Well, I like Savage. I don't have to hear truths all packaged up neat and pretty that try to make me feel good listening to them.
There will be a day when the diamond-in-the-rough Savage will look like a prophet on many issues......but, as we know, prophets have little honor in their own countries and are considered kooks by the wise guys till it's too late.
Actually, the "don't-offend-my delicate-ears" conservatives just love to write him off because of some of his revved-up rants.....and on the other hand, they hang on every word from talk show hosts who seldom rant, who speak truths also, but who make them feel "clean" and more sophisticated than the San Francisco Treat.
While the major hosts will scarcely endorse (even obliquely) the best conservative nominee in time for the primaries, you can bet Mike will do so. Agree with him or not on his primary race opinion, you can still count on him to take a strong and gutsy stand.
