The Seattle School District has backtracked on a statement that racists are "whites" after "numerous concerns" were expressed over the description, according to the district's website.
A cached webpage of the Seattle District's page regarding "Equity & Race," had defined racism as: "The systematic subordination of members of targeted racial groups who have relatively little social power in the United States (Blacks, Latino/as, Native Americans, and Asians), by the members of the agent racial group who have relatively more social power (Whites). The subordination is supported by the actions of individuals, cultural norms and values, and the institutional structures and practices of society."
However, the change noted, "In response to the numerous concerns voiced regarding definitions posted on the Equity & Race website, we have decided to revise our website in a way that will hopefully provide more context to readers around the work that Seattle Public Schools is doing to address institutional racism. The intended purpose of our work in the area of race and social justice is to bring communities together through open dialogue and honest reflection around what is meant by racism and the impact is (sic) has on our society and more specifically, our students. Our intention is not to put up additional barriers or develop an 'us against them' mindset…"
The website also said it no longer is effective, or its desire "to hold onto unsuccessful concepts such as a melting pot or colorblind mentality."
The department is the same that issued a letter to staff members recently reminding them that Thanksgiving is a time of mourning for "Natives," and suggesting an exploration of an outside website for ways to "deconstruct" the holiday.

You identified the problem. Socialized schooling is as bad as any other socialism. We should return to a free market school industry.
But too many people are willing to feed at the government trough and have their lifestyles subsidized by others rather than paying their own way.

I see your racial policy as a desperation attempt to push socialist ideology through rebalkanizing racial politics. Not only are you trying to recreate the bogeyman to hate by making whites ‘institutional oppressors’, you are in a very bigoted and racist way trapping, controlling, and defining the very existence and identity of people of color by saying they cannot have a future time orientation or be individualistic rather than collective in their outlook. The perfect example of the fearmongering, reactionary, ‘white bogeyman’ mentality is given in the article: the racist bigotry promoted against a white teacher who is automatically labeled racist because she has a Southern accent (while bashing whites for supposedly demanding perfect English for minorities). It’s voodoo based mob mentality, the crude, bigoted, superstitious, agitated hatred socialists need because their rhetoric is getting them nowhere. They need something more violent, more enslaving, something with teeth that will get results.

Ironically, I’m sure you’d call it racist to take a position against illegal immigration. But isn’t promoting open borders and unrestricted immigration of Hispanics trying to use that population to minoritize non-hispanic ethnic whites? Isn’t a deliberate policy of minoritizing whites while making them universal and perpetual oppressors simply trying to implement another type of institutional racism that you supposedly are against?
Your policy is nothing but racial vigilantism, an utter disrespect for the basic human value and liberties - all to provide a vehicle to forcing radical Marxist religion on the population that violates the leftists own stance of separation of government and religion. Exactly. Regardless of how fair society becomes there are always groups who insist on seeing themselves as victims of the white man.
