With the exception of the collective body of men and women who wear or have worn America's military uniforms, we are hard-pressed to identify a single organization that has contributed more than C-SPAN during the past quarter century to the appreciation, understanding, enhancement and defense of the fundamental governing institutions that form the foundation of the American republic. So, we weren't surprised when President Bush selected C-SPAN's founding chairman and CEO, Brian Lamb, to be a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian award for distinguished Americans...

Were it not for C-SPAN, there is a lot of things we would never see. Watch the the link below regarding the Law of the Sea Treaty. Did the regular media cover any of this? Did the regular media cover Al Gore filibustering Rep. Barton's questions about CAFE standards on C-SPAN last march? Nope. The post below can still be found at C-SPAN.org because they archive such things.

Listen to the testimony from this site if you can. At least listen to Sen. Ritter from about 1:59 to 2:07. He has more questions later also. The Treaty is not all that it appears to be.

What utter nonsense! Has the current administration gone that far to the left? The Administration should stick to men and women who wear or have worn America's military uniforms, IMO. While C-SPAN has some merit, it has its biases, and has done nothing to earn such an honor.

BRAVO!
Brian Lamb opens government.
Jim Robinson opens conservatism.
Both have empowered the People.

Don’t forget Rush Limbaugh. He certainly deserves it too.

My comment should have read: While C-SPAN has some merit, it has its biases, and does not warrant the honor, IMO.

C-SPAN comes as close as I've seen to a true objective news/event network. It simply sets up a camera and records the event, then lets the viewers interpret the happenings the way they want. And while I've been delighted to see conservative "stars" on C-SPAN (Ann Coulter, PJ O'Rourke, Cal Thomas, e.g.), I have been outraged to see The Usual Liberal Suspects as well. To C-SPAN's credit, however, I am delighted as often as I'm outraged.
I think Brian Lamb has done a lot of good, and has set a standard no talking-head network can even approach.

Of course he should be recognized. Everything will have its biases, we should point out that CSPAN has never took one penny from the Fed Gov’t or your Money.
I’m still waiting for the People of Flight 93 to get their Medals, I still dunno why they haven’t.
