“He (Hunter) said China rebates its own taxes on all of its exported goods, and then imposes taxes on American imports, thus providing about a $34 advantage for every $100 of actual value of its own products. The United States, though, does not impose import duties of that sort, nor does it rebate the taxes on our own exports.

“Republicans are the party of markets, but we’re not the party of dumb markets,” he said. “Trade agreements are business deals, and it is more important than ever that we have smart business deals. What I am proposing is not protectionism, it’s just reciprocity. And it is important because they are using the trade to develop 75-100 short-range and medium-range ballistic missiles each year and to construct a large number of submarines....That’s ominous.”’

‘“Importing farm workers will lower prices of lettuce.” they say.’

I think they actually predict that lettuce will go up if illegals are deported. I don’t buy it. So what, anyway. Corn went up like crazy with ethanol and nobody cared.

‘“Outsourcing and Offshoring will lower prices of goods.” they say.

Where is deflation?’

I bought a 286 PC in ‘92 and it cost me almost 2K. The modern one I’m using now cost me $500. Compare 1992 dollars to current. Same goes for all electronics.

I bought a Mongoose BMX mike when I was a kid, in 1980. It cost over $200. Made in USA. A Mongoose BMX bike costs less than that today. Not made in USA. Again, compare 1980 dollars to today’s and see the deflation.

In 1983 I paid $90 for a pair of New Balance tennis shoes. The New Balance I’m wearing now cost $50.

I bought Asteroids for my Atari 2600 at Christmas, 1982. Cost me $50. Games for the modern systems are about the same. Compare dollars. Incidentally, that Atari 2600 cost over $200. Less than what I paid for my PS2.

Those are just a few examples from my personal life. There are thousands more that apply.

‘The prices weren’t lowered, the slave owners collected all the profits, built mansions for themselves, then funded DNC candidates while screaming “DIXIE DIXIE!”’

Not sure what the hell you are talking about there. Commodities go up and down in price all the time. Mechanized labor is cheaper than slave labor.

“I guess the South won after all.”

In a way, they did. Not how you think, though.

Well if the entire US economy was made up soley of BMX bikes and PC's you would have a point. But it don't: Where's the deflation?

Oh heres a real good one:

Myths and Realities about Free Trade

Where does free trade exist?

Absolute free trade between countries does not exist. While some pay lip service to free trade, all countries (except perhaps the United States) manage their trade to serve their own national interests.

Free trade does exist among the 50 states of the United States. The U.S. Constitution forbids tariffs between the states (Art. I, Sec. 10). This provision has proved to be a tremendous success and deserves a large share of the credit for our nation’s amazing growth and prosperity.

Does it follow that free trade would be good between the United States and other countries?

Absolutely not! That is a non-sequitur! Free trade is successful among our 50 states because: (1) all our 50 states are under one Congress; the U.S. Constitution empowers Congress to regulate interstate commerce (Art. I, Sec. 8), (2) all our 50 states are under one Supreme Court, which is the final arbiter of disputes, (3) all our 50 states are subject to the same federal laws about banking, labor, and the environment, (4) all our 50 states use the U.S. dollar as the legal medium of exchange and none of the 50 states can issue worthless money to pay for imported products, or devalue its currency against the other states, (5) all 50 states are constitutionally forbidden to impair the obligation of contracts (Art. I, Sec. 10) or confiscate property without due process (Amendment V).

Foreign countries can and do engage in all sorts of dishonest tactics that interfere with fair trade, such as devaluation or other manipulation of the value of their money, confiscation (or nationalization) of U.S. property, refusing to live up to the contracts and agreements they sign, stealing our patents and copyrights, and counterfeiting our money.

Where is the deflation? All I see is normal historical inflation.

The inflation would be astronomical if not for "free" trade. The production of goods has shifted from US workers to slave labor overseas. Without "free" trade, the impact of our ongoing currency collapse would be much more obvious.

****************

If it weren’t for these free-trade agreements with slave nations, inflation would be exactly like the graph shows, in addition to higher wages for Americans.

Dittos for immigration.

How so?

Well for starters I have to wonder if he's marrying someone half his age for macho "I've still got it" image reasons to maintain his celebrity appearance, or because he's insecure in his own age and maturity level to marry a woman of similar age and maturity as the majority of society does, or perhaps he's got control issues and finds a much younger woman easier to keep under his control, or is he afraid he's getting old and wants a young wife to prove he's not to himself. I mean, ask yourself, why does a man need a child bride? That's a few reasons off the top.

Don't take this out of context, I'll likely have to vote for Fred as the most conservative candidate available if Duncan can no longer make a go of it, I'm just saying, this personally raised a red flag for me early on as I compared Fred to the other conservative candidates. Fred's certainly a better choice than the others (sans Hunter).

You are exactly the type of person I speak of when I mention how disgusting Hunter’s supporters are. First you people accuse him of being pro-death, now you accuse him of being an insecure controlling husband.

What’s next? He kicks puppies for fun? These attacks are disgraceful.

Touched a sensitive nerve, did I? No, I’m not attacking Fred. Re-read my post. I’ll likely end up supporting him as my #2 candidate in case Hunter drops out, I just personally have an issue with an old man marrying a child wife. Quit squalling like a YouTube Britney Spears fan and debate the issues being discussed. Thin skin doesn’t become a “conservative” voter.
