Looking for information on a North Korean interrogation technique based on 'consistency'. It started with a question like "Is America perfect?" and if one is honest and said "No" you would then be asked to state an example. From there they had a process that led to a number of captured military becoming collaborators. Many more than in World War II. It exploited a person's desire to be consistant in their beliefs and what they tell others. I'm interested in something which would provide details or examples of that process. Has anyone seen an research on the rates and differences between WWII and Korea? Need sources please. There's at least one report out there, but I've lost the internet address. The information will be put to good use, so thanks in advance for your assistance in unravelling the meaning of the anti-war left's message to the public.
Batter up...talk to me.

Probably wouldn’t work on liberals...they are the fish in a sea of cognitive dissonance.
Or, more likely, it already has worked, and is working quite effectively at places like Evergreen State College.
The military code of conduct was created because of the harsh conditions of the Korean war and also the Air Force started SERE School because of the tolls taken on their crew.
If you look at the survival rates between the pow’s of the European and Pacific theaters you will see the low survival rates in the Pacific. It truly was brutal.
Here are some links, not sure if they cover your specific request but cover Korean stuff.

excerpt:
The thesis that Korean War POWs were particularly prone to collaborate has proven tenacious, despite being meticulously debunked as early as 1963 by Pentagon consultant Albert Biderman [26]. It was the captivity that was different, not the captives. In most conflicts, the frequency of collusion goes unspoken, but the Cold War put a premium on world opinion, a contest in which all Korea POWs starred. American prisoners were forced to broadcast confessions in Marxist jargon, rather than just quietly inform on fellows as in previous conflicts. The Korean War also included periods of incarceration as harsh as any in American experience - one-third perished - producing a highly coercive atmosphere. If there was more collaboration in Korea, it is best explained by the demands of the captors and the conditions of captivity, rather than a decline in the character of youth in the years since 1945.

Thanks.
Project MKULTRA links: often viewed as US response to NK efforts:
Thanks.
But, I love a challenge... Let me see....
Some initial thoughts.
In WWII we took all enemy lands, so all prisoners were released. In Korea, not so.
In WWII, I do not know of any coordinated effort to convert US POWs to National Socialism or into little Emperor worshipers. Granted POWs were harshly interrogated for tactical and in some cases strategic military information, but as far as trying to create a full reorientation of their base psyc makeup, ????
Suggest delving into “William J. Bryan, M.D, J.D., Ph. D.” He was heavily involved in Medical Hypnosis, MUKULTA, Flea Bailey’s Boston Strangler defense... AND WAS TECH ADVISOR FOR ORIGINAL “MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE” movie. There were other accusations that he was involved in Bobby Kennedy murder, but that is for another time. He is dead now. Took some courses from him in hypnosis. He was brilliant, and crazy.
This sounds like fun.
Given where I think you are going with this, here is a site to help light the fire.

This may be the one you are looking for:::::::::
By the end of the Korean War, 70 percent of the 7,190 U.S. prisoners held in China had either made confessions or signed petitions calling for an end to the American war effort in Asia. Fifteen percent collaborated fully with the Chinese, and only 5 percent steadfastly resisted. The American performance contrasted poorly with that of the British, Australian, Turkish, and other United Nations prisonersamong whom collaboration was rare, even though studies showed they were treated about as badly as the Americans. Worse, an alarming number of the prisoners stuck by their confessions after returning to the United States.

You are startinjg to get me over interested in this topic.
Not really on topic, but I can't resist. Is there a chance that Ron Paul was held captive in some Islamic country in recent years? Was he brainwashed into someone who "calls for an end to American war effort in West Asia?" Was his demand for absolute "constitutional" consistency, and return to 18th century war powers, the weak link they used to "turn" him? /s
