How many American soldiers will lose their lives because of this anti-war movie? That is the first question anyone who sees the recently released anti-American film should ask. I was one of only four people at the Ritz Bourse theater for the first showing in Philadelphia last Friday. I hope this suggests that it will fail to find an audience in the United States. I have no doubt it will be a hit with those who seek to destroy America.
While the pattern of Hollywood’s anti-American commitment is the same as it was in Vietnam, one of the major differences between Vietnam and Iraq is the timing of the Hollywood movies. At least Hollywood generally waited until the troops were out of Vietnam before their movies were released vilifying American soldiers. Today, the studios are competing to get the movies out NOW while our troops are still in the line of fire.

Marc Cuban offered to sell the movie to Brian De Palma at cost so he could release it in any form and to whoever he wanted, and he refused the offer. Even the director knows his movie is worthless crap that will never make any money.
On his show yesterday, Michael Medved reported on what a certifiable turkey this movie is; he gave some of the abysmal box office numbers.
Every Dallas Mavericks’ fan stabs an American soldier in the back when he gives his nickle to Mark Cuban.
Yes, according to the box office, fewer than 3,000 people saw it last weekend.
Was surprised to see Redacted for sale for $20 on “On Demand” on my Verizon Fios last weekend.
They’re going out of their way to try and pipeline this crap to the masses.

War film’s portrayal of soldiers draws fire from GOP lawmaker

Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, sent a scathing letter regarding Brian De Palma’s new film to MPAA Chairman Dan Glickman asking that he not forget that there are heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the United States and Iraqi people.
“Unfortunately, Brian De Palma’s new movie ‘Redacted,’ which opened in several theaters this week, portrays American service personnel in Iraq as uncontrollable misfits and criminals,” Mr. Hunter stated in his letter to Mr. Glickman. “While incidents of criminal behavior by members of our military should never be ignored, the isolated incident on which this film is based negatively portrays American service personnel and misrepresents their collective efforts in Iraq.”
Other military officials worry that the film could be used as propaganda against troops in the region and incite violence against them by Islamist group.....
“This incident, while tragic, demonstrates the goodness and generosity of our nation’s military, and its continued mission in Iraq,” Mr. Hunter said, reminding Mr. Glickman and Mr. De Palma of the continuing sacrifices U.S. troops have made.
“The film intentionally fails to show or give any indication of the more than 3 million inoculations administered by American forces, the construction of medical clinics and schools, as well as the construction of other important infrastructure,” the letter went on to state. “Additionally, the film’s negative depiction of our military blatantly ignores the many acts of heroism performed by our soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors in Iraq.”
Bingo.
People need to stop doing business with people who willingly go against this country- people such as Cuban.
If nothing else, this tripe should serve as a clarion call to our Iraq era veterans as to what the left has in store for them given the opportunity. Vietnam Veterans have paid the price of ambivalence in the face of leftist activism and propaganda...right down to the historical narratives used to teach our children.
The “Iraq Veterans Legacy Foundation” doesn’t yet exist. Hopefully they won’t give the America haters another 30 year head start.
Good question. We keep hearing that the film is based on a true story. I wonder how true it is. And even if it is true, why do a film like this during wartime about an isolated incident that will be prosecuted if it really happened?
Looks like they have. Ten days in and its widest release has been only 15 theaters.

I’ve never heard of this movie. I doubt it’s going to get many viewers unless we give them free publicity by making a big stink.
Cuban is one of those George soros types with so much money they can afford to keep having debacles like this lose money for 2-300 years and still never have to worry about where his next meal is coming from.
I just hope we dont cause such a backlash that libs go to see it to bring numbers up...of course it will get nominated for the academy awards.
Cuban tried to bail out but De Palma wasn’t about to give back the money. Cuban was an idiot to get into this in the first place but when the heat started on him he tried to cut bait. I’m glad he didn’t get let off the hook. Everybody involved in that turkey should not only loss lots of money but also be subject to the shame of its existence.

Its true that the monetary value is modest but the propaganda value is not. The only thing better than the testimony of a traitor to prove your side of the conflict to your supporters is something captured from the other side which proves you are right.
The jihadis will be the only people in the world to actually pay to see these crappy movies. And lets say that only a few dozen people worldwide see De Palmas film and decide that they need to join the jihad? Certainly a great return on investment for Al Qaeda since they didn’t even have to produce the film.
Many people hate us around the world. But if you add hollywood quality theatrics to that hatred you are increasing its intensity. Its an infinitely more attractive message when you can see and actually believe that the US soldiers in Iraq are there to torture, rape and kill Iraqi women and children. And that is the message they are getting from these movies. Propaganda has always been a valuable tool and dictators around the world have used it for centuries.
I don't think there are any jihadis in Baghdad to amount to anything. Not many more left in Iraq, for that matter. Perhaps we should send him to Pakistan's NW Provinces.
This Dallasite doesn't, I root for the Spurs.
