NJDC CRITICIZES KUCINICH FOR SAYING HED OFFER VP SLOT TO REP. RON PAUL
Rep. Paul has a Bad Record on Israel
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
11/27/07
Washington, D.C. -- Today, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) criticized Rep. Dennis Kucinich for saying that he would consider Republican Rep. Ron Paul for the Vice Presidency should Kucinich win the Democratic nomination.
Despite his views on the Iraq War, Rep. Paul no more belongs on a Democratic ticket than Dennis Kucinich on a Republican one, said NJDC Executive Director Ira N. Forman. Any Jewish Democrats or independents that are tempted toward Rep. Paul because of his stance on the War should be reminded that this Republican Representative has a terrible record on Middle East politics, is anti-choice, and opposes stem cell research.
Rep. Paul has even gone so far as to call the Israel government evil, continued Forman.
Rep. Paul has a long history of voting of anti-Israeli votes and rhetoric. Among his most objectionable quotes:
- Stating that lobbying groups who seek special favors and handouts are evil, Paul wrote, By far the most powerful lobby in Washington of the bad sort is the Israeli government and that the goal of the Zionist movement is to stifle criticism. [Houston Chronicle, 5/23/96]
- The goal of the Zionist movement is to so intimidate us that we will dare say nothing critical of Israels policies, Paul wrote. [Ron Paul Political Report, 4/15/92]
- "It's time that Israel stopped running American foreign policy and draining American taxpayers' wallets." When groups protested to the Republican leadership that Paul was being assigned to the international affairs committee, Paul blamed the Israeli government for the loss of his promised seat. [Fundraising letter by Ron Paul; The Ethnic News Watch, 11/7/96]
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported yesterday that Kucinich would consider Rep. Paul to be his running mate: "I'm thinking about Ron Paul as a running mate, Kucinich told a crowd of about 70 supporters at a house party here, one of numerous stops throughout New Hampshire over the Thanksgiving weekend. A Kucinich-Paul administration could bring people together "to balance the energies in this country," Kucinich said. It a good fit, Paul won’t be supporting the GOP nominee anyway. Of course Kuchinich won’t be the nominee, but maybe they could together on a third party thing. It would be fun.
Haven't heard this one.. lol.. more hidden liberal tendencies. It is always someone else's fault.
The News Release is wrong about the facts, of course. Ron Paul, like other opponents of abortion, is not against all stem cell research.
Don’t know if anyone out there can confirm this, but allegedly Ron Paul was heard telling a C-SPAN caller the other day that he “would consider” Kucinich as a running mate.
Why does anyone feel the need to respond to a scenario that is...shall we say...not terribly likely to occur?
I think Kucinich and Paul would be a great team...To replace the Hail Bop Clan.
That’s a good point. I also wonder why they are criticizing him for being pro-life.
He kept repeating his suicide position on Iraq, but the hosts never blinked an eye. I am amazed that the hosts of the show didn't question him on the sources of his support and money. They seem to be bamboozled by the buzz as well.
So how is that any different than what you always get from the Move On, Code Pink, and DU moonbats?
What is this, the One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest Party ticket?
He’s getting money from somewhere. There are signs all over the place in Vancouver, Wash.
Although as bad as Ron Paul is on the issue of the war, Giuliani is much worse across the board. I wish some of this energy were redirected to “outing” Giuliani, who is much more of a realistic threat to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Somewhere on this board, I predicted this a while ago.
Is it any wonder that Paul is the candidate of choice for the KKK and neo-Nazis?
Wouldn't be the first time the NJDC was wrong on facts.
