Rudy takes aim at Mitt

It's Christmas, and war is breaking out all over.

Thank Iowa. The state's unusually early Jan. 3 start date -- three days before the Feast of the Epiphany -- has sparked a sudden outbreak of pugilism among presidential candidates right and left.

snip

Meanwhile, Rudy chose the Politico Web site as the venue for taking off the gloves on Mitt Romney. It's time to "take the mask off and take a look at what kind of governor was he," announced Giuliani, later adding: "He throws stones at people. And then on that issue he usually has a worse record than whoever he's throwing stones at."

Yet invited to similarly unmask Sen. John McCain, the formerly pugnacious Rudy genteely declined. "He's one of my friends, and he's one of my heroes," Giuliani said before whacking into Romney once more.

Thus Rudy announced that he understands this truth: The GOP primary for president is either a one-man or a two-man race. Giuliani is a clear national front-runner, barring an unlikely meltdown on the part of the battle-tested former mayor.

And of all the other candidates in the GOP race, only one man is now in a position to threaten his victory -- Mitt Romney.

President Bush received 62,040,610 votes in the 2004 Presidential election. It is clear that a huge percentage of those votes will not come from an educated conservative voting body (oh, how I wish they all were FReepers). Because of this, I do believe the contention in this article that the Republican primary is a two-man race right now, absent the conservative block aligning behind one candidate, (which vote is presently split primarily between Fred, Mitt, Mike & John). Due to the unique accelerated nature of this primary, the time is short for the best conservative, that can also win, to emerge and be broadly supported. IMHO, it is way past time for that consensus candidate to be Fred Thompson. Fred is the only one who can derail either Rudy or Mitt at this point and the conservative justification to choose Fred has been posted (and re-posted) all over this website.

Giuliani's campaign is engaged in a VERY dirty game played by remorseless people.

Now, everyone knows Rudy is headed for primary flops all over the nation. The nitwit foolishly brought this on himself----running no TV ads in early primary/caucus states. Giuliani waited so long to show his true colors that Mitt Romney has an insurmountable lead.

The sly, calculating Turdiani is laying low----keeping quiet that he purposefully avoided early primary states (conservative strongholds) b/c he and his neo-nutjobs planned to kick conservatives to the curb.....to religiously cleanse the Repub party.

Not surprisingly, conservatives were onto Rooty and his freakazoids----the nutjobs were forced to back off.

Now nitwit Rooty knows he REALLY needs conservatives.

That's too, too bad.

" P-l-e-a-s-e make me sound conservative."

"My stupid advisors told me I didn't need those redneck gun nuts and
those dumb pro-life Christian conservatives to make a primary showing."

" They're killing me on FR just b/c I dumped my wife for my mistress, don't talk
to my kids, was honored by NARAL, donated to Planned Parenthood, marched
for gay rights under the NAMBLA banner, appointed gays and pedophiles
to top city jobs, and provided a sanctuary for illegals."

Mitt is the only one with the money (his and ours) and the campaign organization on the ground who can stop Rudy and then Hillary. The longer it takes conservatives to figure it out, the more likely we will end up with Rudy as our nominee.

ANN COULTER from the Glenn Beck interview:
I think the Republicans, we have a choice between Rudy Giuliani and Romney, and with Giuliani struggling to get to the right of Hillary on the social issues, I certainly have a preference there.

Ann is absolutely right. Rudy or Mitt. Pick one. The choice is clear to me and Ann.

From an earlier Hannity & Colmes..... Ann threw her support to Mitt Romney for President:

"When asked who she likes for President either McCain, Gulliani or Romney, she responded Romney twice.

This writer sees Fred as having no chance for the nomination and only having a role of spoiler. When I read stuff like this it makes me fighting mad... and I just wrote Fred another check.

National Right to Life legal counsel, Jim Bopp:

So it does come down to two things: (1) the viability of the candidate, which only Mitt Romney has demonstrated among the socially conservative candidates, and (2) whether social conservatives will have the courage to rally around the only viable social conservative alternative to Rudy Giuliani. A divided field means that Giuliani is likely to win the nomination. This is our choice to make, and we don't have long to make it.

Heart attack or stroke?

They’re both good ways to die.

Yes, unfortunately that is the ‘conventional’ perception, and one I don’t agree with (I’ve written checks to Fred too). However, perception can become reality, and quickly in an impatient culture like ours. The primary point of this post is to propose a reality check of where we are in the primary season. We can’t wait until February or we will be stuck with Rudy or Mitt (which can still be avoided by actions now).

That would be your choice if you are looking at Hillary, Rudy or Huckabee -— all different variations of the same thing. Romney actually supports the majority of the GOP platform — unlike the others.

Watch this fight between Rudy and Mitt. It will only be a microscopic version of what Hillary will throw at either of them in a general election. Any Republican candidate that does not have an authentic conservative record to run on will be made mincemeat of by her in the general election. Neither Rudy or Mitt have this record. If either ends up as the Rep. candidate, with the help of the media, she’ll be able to discourage and send the value voters heading for the hills and we know how that worked out in 2006.

There is no viable candidate with an “authentic” enough conservative record for most of you. You will absolute yourselves right into 8 years of Hillary and her HINO (husband in name only) in our WH. It is so sad to see the writing on the wall nobody else sees.

If Huckabee is the GOP nominee, the GOP will lose the 2008 election.

You know the facts about Mitt's actual record that are posted here ad nauseam. He is easily portrayed as not a conservative and a flip-flopper worse than JfK with YouTube, past statements, et. al. Yes, Mitt is saying all the right things now in his polished way (doesn't that bother you at all?) Given this, Hillary's game plan to beat him easily is already written. IMHO, she doesn't have a good game plan for Fred and absolutely would prefer to face either Rudy or Mitt.

Romney is the worst turd in the bowl.

I’d vote for Hillary before I’d vote for Hillaromney.

People focused on authentic conservatives is what you should expect on FR where there are only 4,800+ votes (out of the needed 60 million) in the current Fred vs. Duncan run-off. Your point is well made to supporters of Hunter or Trancedo here, but Fred is viable and has a conservative record to run on.

Yes, though not articulated well.

The action that I propose is that "it is time to rally around the one conservative who stands a chance of beating Rudy" and that is Fred Dalton Thompson.
