“He should be making great inroads but isn’t. I just don’t get it. He’s one of the best idea men of all the candidates and yet he can’t get traction. I think he is a great and honorable man. “

I thought that I got it tonight, he campaigns like he is a conservative congressman running for his safe 52nd district seat that he has owned for 26 years.

We are a red meat district and all we need to hear about is guns, the border, and that he is strong on what ever military issue is in the news that election, then we overwhelmingly vote him in again.

Tonight I realized that to reach a huge national audience that you have to transcend your home district.

Duncan lives in the choir and sings to the choir, and now he has picked up some new choir members, but doesn’t sing a tune that will attract a huge new following.

People respect him and they know the handfull of issues that he is dependable on, but they don’t see him as diverse and complex enough to take over the most wide ranging complex job on earth.

The Huckster is just been rising lately and the media is already starting to burst his balloon by reporting on the stuff most of us already know. Every single one of the candidates suffer when investigative reporting sets on them, except Duncan Hunter.

I am hoping that Duncan Hunter will be in it for the long haul as none of the other candidates are running away with the nomination. They all are getting their time in the sun and but then fade. More and more people are taking notice of Hunter. At some point, I believe the tide will turn and Duncan will begin climbing. At least, that is my hope.

We must choose wisely. Both men are true conservatives. However, one is in second place nationally and winning/2nd place in most South Carolina & other Southern polls. I don’t know why Rep. Hunter hasn’t gained traction. What are your thoughts? Perhaps Fred should name his VP and major cabinet people now?

2ndDivisionVet Am I the only one that caught this? I think this is profoundly significant.

If you are mystified by which position it was that Cooper kept asking if Romney had refuted (he hadn’t), this is it.

Romney 1994:
“”One issue I want to clarify concerns [grammar in context] President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share…”

“I agree... Time for a process of elimination. Line up all the true Conservatives who have never uttered the words “path to citizenship”, and lets pick from them.”

You just cut the field to two, Hunter and Tancredo.

Thanks for great work once again Walter. It just kills me that Duncan Hunter, once again, wasn’t given as many questions as the others. He was yet again place way at the far end and not allowed to duke it out in the sand box with the others. He received far fewer questions than the rest of the group. He could’ve hit the ball out of the park with that question regarding the Chinese toys by stressing his stance on fair trade with China, restoring our industrial base, etc...but he wasn’t allotted enough time and was cut off, so he ended up with the “Buy American” line/cliche’. His statement “I will never apologize for America” though drew a loud applause and was his best of the night. loved it! He gave a great answer to the gun question and even gave the young man a fatherly lesson on gun safety as well. He didn’t bite on the Norquist pledge like the other stooges. And he smacked the Hildabeast planted gay general back in place pretty good. And did it quite respectfully, too. It’s clear and evident that Duncan Hunter was, yet again, deliberately blackballed and not given enough questions and airtime. Hunter was never given an opportunity to fully participate in this debate. Had Hunter been allot enough time like Roody and Mitt were given, he would win the GOP nomination easily, hands down.

you can’t really expect a congressman to go anywhere unless he’s crazy like Ron Paul. It’s hard enough for a senator to run.

That's going to be Hunter as well and certainly not McCain or Rudy. McCain again tonight came off like an idiot. Romney was right in that you do not telecast your intentions to your enemy. McCain had to belabor the point. Romney did a great job tonight running as Hunter. You would think the genuine article would get some of that, huh?

Well .. I’ve heard a couple of comments already that the Huckster has peaked too early .. so don’t dispair about Hunter .. he has to overcome the name recognition of the others.

1% point at a time is better than no progress I guess. I hope he can knock one of the media darlings Mitt or Rudy out of front runner position. Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter 2008!
