"To ensure that there are safe and accessible bathrooms available for all participants of the [University of Southern Maine's] 4th Annual Transgendered Day of Remembrance event, these restrooms have been designated as gender neutral. "...transgender individuals and those whose gender may not conform with societal stereotypes associated with their birth sex may be subject to harassment or violence when using male- or female-specific restrooms.
Where did the plumbers union come down on this?
SICK!
Why is this society pandering to people who obviusly are suffering from mental illness? A man has to be to want to be a woman and vice versa.
I really don’t care. I tire of standing in a long slow moving lines while the men’s has little traffic. It would also be safer if you could go in with male children. A few things would have to change though. Urinals would have to go and doors would have to go up. Stores would need to add lotions and mirrors and be decorative too. Guys, we could make this work:’)
Nah. Women wouldn’t put up with “hanky panky” in their lounges. If yall would share we could make your bathrooms “respectable”:’)
The first time some guy gets caught “peeking”, these places are probably gonna get sued..

Be warned. I’ve been known to unleash a stench that has pealed paint from walls.
;-)
Having known a number of folks from Maine....I can truthfully say that they are about as far out on the plank as a normal person can go. So the story doesn’t surprise me. As for both men and women using the facility...its simply a trigger for activities later...another thing I noticed from the Maine folks that I’ve met...they are about as open as you can get on affairs and such. Something like this in Bama though....won’t never make it...unless you want a Transgendered “out-house” or such.
We had a Tranny walking around the Marina where I keep my boat. This thing was a a deisel mechanic by day and a dock walkin’ psuedo skank by night.
“She” wore the most feminine sun dresses but always, always needed a shave. You could smell diesel off “her” from 20 feet away.
“She” pushed things too far and one day entered the womans restroom and found herself and her boat thrown out of the Marina two minutes later. Ha ha

Well, somebody should tell Larry Craig not to visit the University of Southern Maine!
Well all I can tell you is that if it had been a women “next door” he would probably be wearing a handbag up side of his head.
Oh brother....
In 1971 I visited a friend who was attending college at MIT, where his dorm had originally been all-male, thus all "MENS" bathrooms, one per floor. But with the addition of female students, rather than halve the number of available bathrooms for each sex (and make half the dorm residents have to walk up a flight of stairs to take a leak), they just designated all the bathrooms to be "CO-ED".
It worked like a champ.
Nobody got harassed, a couple of people found it intimidating at first but within a week everybody was pretty much fine about it. The first day I visited (partway through first semester), he didn't warn me about the co-ed nature of the bathrooms, to "set me up" for a surprise.
I was in the bathroom at one of the urinals, when a lovely 18-yo co-ed walked in wrapped only in a towel, and proceeded to take a shower in the locker-room-style shower area of the bathroom, which was open to the area I was in. I tell you, 35 years later I still recall my shock with perfect clarity.
My friend was laughing his butt off outside in the hall, of course; but after that "initiation", I found it not the least bit off-putting to share a bathroom with women. The bathroom stayed cleaner, too, than most men-only bathrooms.
But that was college -- all roughly the same age group, and by definition people of our acquaintance in a private building. It would be all different (and for me, far less comfortable) if it was a) public, and b) people I don't know. Regardless of whether it's co-ed or sex-segregated.
Which for me is the point: IT'S NOT ABOUT SEX. IT'S ABOUT PERSONAL SAFETY. To claim that one's safety is only threatened by members of the opposite sex is just dumb.
I suspect there are plumber's helpers involved. :)
What may happen throughout the US is what I've been noticing as I drive through the Southeast: a single locking bathroom.
That is, the market's solution to a "plumbing" problem.
Less work for union plumbers. They would prefer the law mandate a men’s, a women’s, a handicapped and a trans gendered bathroom in every public facility. And then one for midgets and pederasts.
I would point out one reason the men's line moves faster is because of urinals. More fixtures can be fitted in the same amount of space. Put in a trough like at a stadium and watch the line really move fast. Removing the urinals would defeat that.
