From Ron Paul’s web site (http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/war-and-foreign-policy/):

“The war in Iraq was sold to us with false information. The area is more dangerous now than when we entered it. We destroyed a regime hated by our direct enemies, the jihadists, and created thousands of new recruits for them. This war has cost more than 3,000 American lives, thousands of seriously wounded, and hundreds of billions of dollars. We must have new leadership in the White House to ensure this never happens again.

Both Jefferson and Washington warned us about entangling ourselves in the affairs of other nations. Today, we have troops in 130 countries. We are spread so thin that we have too few troops defending America. And now, there are new calls for a draft of our young men and women.

We can continue to fund and fight no-win police actions around the globe, or we can refocus on securing America and bring the troops home. No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution.

Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.

Too often we give foreign aid and intervene on behalf of governments that are despised. Then, we become despised. Too often we have supported those who turn on us, like the Kosovars who aid Islamic terrorists, or the Afghan jihadists themselves, and their friend Osama bin Laden. We armed and trained them, and now we’re paying the price.

At the same time, we must not isolate ourselves. The generosity of the American people has been felt around the globe. Many have thanked God for it, in many languages. Let us have a strong America, conducting open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations.”

Well, basically I disagree with the first paragraph and for the most part agree with him on the rest. Iraq is not more dangerous and the terrorists there are flowing in from Syria and Iran, not Iraq. We have made a free country which is going to be taking a more active role in eliminating terrorists soon.

Looking around his site, this is pretty much the only spot that I disagree with him on.

So show your Nazi mentality and malign my faith they did it to those who were Jewish in Germany and it looks like many Americans feel they can do it to the Mormons!

Not that it seems to matters to many of you at FR that is the House of the Lord Jesus Christ that is being desecrated!

Wow, you guys have drank the kool-aid so much, you seem to think Tom Tancredo is a RINO now.

Not at all. I like Tom Tancredo very much, but he & Hunter just aren't going to get enough numbers to pull off a win. I'm being realistic about that, they are great men & speak the truth - but I think Fred's chances of pulling the party together are better & frankly, I think we should all start supporting him. He's going to need all the numbers he can get to defeat Rudy in the primaries.

It's getting to the time when we have to be realistic.

I didn't know I needed to be a Nazi to make fun of magic underwear.

Did they? Jews have magic underwear? Never heard of it.

that is the House of the Lord Jesus Christ that is being desecrated!

Nah, it's the house of Joe Smith the father of "pioneer scientology".

And nobody was focusing on Fred’s past because he’s not leading in any early primary states and doesn’t have any momentum. If they had been focusing on some of his earlier statements compared to his positions now, Fred would have been in the same boat as everyone else. He was not a target of CNN or the other candidates.

He got all that scrutiny before he even announced, and dealt with any questions that came up. They were covered in quite a bit of depth here on FR in the spring and early summer. And since there is no RINO past on Fred's part, he doesn't have to defend pro-abortion, anti-gun or pro-tax statements.

The difference is that Fred has never been for blanket amnesty of illegal immigrants. As far as those votes on legislation are concerned, do you have specifics about what was included in them that might have caused Fred to vote for or against them? That’s the problem with hanging a criticism on a couple of votes; unless you know what’s behind them, it’s hard to make a judgement.

That is the question i have been asking myself for a while now. In my state (Mississippi) its pretty much a given we are going to go R in the general, so the primary is where my vote will really count most. So do I vote Hunter, who I agree with the most, or Fred who I think has a better chance of getting it? Right now, I am leaning to Hunter, but things could always change before March.

You other guys, is there some post on here I am missing? Take it easy. We’ve already jumped to the nazi and scientology comparisons. Whoa now!

Yes, that story came out back in September, and I believe Fred answered questions about that vote. I have read his detailed plan on illegal immigration and believe it is a great plan. It is also on his web site. :)

CBN dislikes Fred and takes things out of context at every opportunity in an attempt to discredit him. CBN is Pat Robertson’s organization and he, inexplicably, is for Rudy.

NumbersUSA, a hardline anti-immigration group, has come out in support of Thompson. If Thompson weren’t the real deal on immigration, NumbersUSA would know it.

One of the votes in question was an employment verification bill. Fred wasn’t against cracking down on illegal employers, but the bill required a form of national ID, which is why Fred opposed it, and said so at the time.

See Red is trying to pull that weak argument here as well.

Irony is on the thread I was on, the way it was put was a very direct admission that Rush was right about Romney.

She said Rush did not say that same thing about FDT because of the reason she just stated. No one was focusing on him.

Of course that means that if he just did not notice Fred’s “liberal/moderate” leanings (none there, but for the sake of the argument) because of the lack of attention that indeed Rush was right about the rest he DID notice...

So Red, you have outed Mitt as a Mitt fan.

I tried to help.

One day I have hope you will be a conservative like many of us.

“Young loaner”

Hey Michael, get the “a” out of loner, would you? It’s disconcerting, makes me think you are a young banker instead of a young loner.

“...or have any of his past forays into those areas displayed...”

Because he is rapidly becoming a non-factor. Calling this an endorsement is BS, as is claiming that Rush said Fred was a true conservative.
