Hillary Clinton is booed at campaign event

Hillary Clinton has been booed by fellow Democrats as a new poll shows she had slipped behind Barack Obama, her main opponent in the race for the party's presidential nomination.

During an interview in front of 3,000 Democratic supporters, Mrs Clinton was jeered over her stance on contentious proposals to allow illegal immigrants to become citizens.

Senator Clinton, who addressed the meeting in Des Moines, Iowa, by telephone, was asked whether, if elected President, she would "make a decision to give undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship" during her first 100 days in office.

"I have been favouring a plan to citizenship for years," Mrs Clinton said. "I voted for it in the Senate, I have spoke out about it around Iowa and the country and in my campaign. And as President, comprehensive immigration reform will be a high priority for me."

But illegal immigrants would not be granted amnesty and would have to "earn" citizenship, she said, sparking sporadic booing from some Left-wing activists in the audience.

The jeering then spread throughout the crowd, grew louder and continued even after Mrs Clinton hung up the telephone at the end of the interview.

With just a month before the first votes are cast to determine the Democratic candidate, the reception is symptomatic of an apparent growing antipathy toward the former First Lady.

A poll by The Des Moines Register newspaper shows Senator Obama has overtaken Mrs Clinton in Iowa, the first state to vote for its preferred presidential candidate.

Though Mrs Clinton is still considered the leading candidate nationally, another Iowa poll, conducted by the American Research Group, shows support for her among women, the demographic underpinning her campaign, had dropped 10 points in a month.

Mr Obama's push to become America's first black president is expected to receive a boost this week, when billionaire television star Oprah Winfrey joins him on the campaign trail.

I disagree. It’s true that HRC has high built-in negatives and those negatives will make it difficult for her to win the general election.

But for all those negatives, she has successfully cultivated an image of being a main-stream candidate with WH-like experience.

Obama, on the other hand, is an unreconstructed leftist which no amount of spin by the media could ever cover up, and he’s the emptiest suit (by far) in the closet.

In the general election, his candidacy wouldn’t hold up five minutes under intense scrutiny, and though you can argue that the MSM would never provide intense scrutiny I would argue that the campaign is a hell of a lot longer than 5 minutes.

In my opinion, Obama would be the greatest disaster the rats could inflict upon themselves, which is why I strongly hope he wins the nomination.

If you’re looking at charisma, the choice would have to be Giuliani or Huckabuck.

None of the other Pubbies have it.

Lefties are hostile to the concept of earning anything.

What we have to hope for is that Obama wins the nomination and then increases his smoking to 3 packs a day.

In my estimation, yes. Obama is MUCH more difficult to beat than Clinton.

Only because Clinton is stupid enough not to take a solid position on anything.
Obama should be completely trounced in a general election because he embraces
the looney left's agenda.

David Gregory chastised Hillary in front of Tim Russert for half measures and waffling. She thinks she can still equivocate and that her base and the press will fall in line. But as the public continues to yawn at the rigged debates, the ante has to go up and chips will have to fly.

And this from the smartest woman in politics who said that she would give $5000 to pregnant women in other countries to come here and have their babies.

I'm just waiting for Hillary to tell me she is going to select my doctor and charge me $2400 a year for the privilege for her to do so.

Doh!

That is exactly why they were booing her highness! The writer and posters seems to miss it! They weren't booing her because she wanted amnesty for illegals, they were booing because she had the G.W. Bush ideas that illegals should somehow "earn" amnesty! G.W. Bush and other RINOS and all liberals on this issue think illegals should simply be made "legal by the stroke of a gubmint pen" and ipso facto, no more "illegals"!

Move along, there's nothing to see here!

DG, The Breck Girl Lite, sanctimoniously chasties a woman who at least
understands half the country won't even listen to her BS unless she shows a little
unstanding and not just "Looney Left" every perceived problem.

I almost don't like DG more than Hillary!!

I wouldn't wish or pray that on anyone. However, if she doesn't repent, she will ultimately meet up with Satan face to face, rather than indirectly as she is now.

Things haven’t changed much since she was booed in Seattle in 1994 - which was the beginning of the end of her Hillary Care plan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8RYoKjbOZA

The only difference in the events is the booes in Seattle are a large group of conservatives who showed up. Regardless of the booes - listen to her voice during the speech - Yikes, how can any unneutered male vote for her to lead them, the country, and it’s military? I just cant see it.

If Obama eliminates her first, that should be a lot better than running the risk she could become President, however slight that possibility may be.
