Romney's Faith No Big Deal (The problem isn't Mormonism. It's Mitt.)
Boston Herald ^ | December 4, 2007 | Michael Graham

I can’t believe anyone would vote against Mitt Romney because of religion.

I can’t believe any American would withhold a vote out of irrational fear of Mormonism.

I also can’t believe in ghosts, Area 51 or a U.S. government conspiracy to assassinate JFK.

In other words, I'm not your average American. And, unfortunately for Romney, when he gives “The Speech” on Thursday, he won’t be talking to me. He’ll be talking to them.

I've never understood how Mitt’s Mormonism could put off voters. Mitt Romney: Nice guy, weird religion. What’s the problem?

For a while, the Romney campaign agreed. When polling in June 2006 showed 35 percent of voters wouldn’t vote for a Mormon, the Romney camp rolled on. A year later, a Harris poll found that 29 percent of Americans would be unlikely to vote Mormon. Still no problem.

Then last week the Des Moines Register poll had Arkansas’ Mike Huckabee over Romney by 5 percent.

Now that’s a problem.

The fact is, there is no constitutional or political threat from a Mormon president. Electing a devout Book of Mormon thumper would be like electing a militant vegan: Annoying at dinner parties, but hardly a danger to the Republic.

People against electing Mormons have no clue what they’re talking about. Romney’s problem is that “people who have no clue what they’re talking about” make up a solid one-third of the American electorate.

Right now, there’s a registered voter in Iowa saying: “I ain’t votin’ for Mitt Romney, I don’t care how many wives he has.” Rational people laugh, but there’s also a guy in New Hampshire saying: “If we’d get on the gold standard and abandon our support for Israel, we’d never have to worry about another attack from the Tri-Lateral Commission!”

That guy’s name is Ron Paul.

“Myself and most principled Christians would never vote for a Mormon.”

I am a principled Christian conservative and I have DEEP issues with Mormonism. The fact that they insist on calling it Christianity is the main problem. However by your reasoning, only WASP’s or Catholics’ could be elected.

That’s not the America I know, or want to be a part of.

You really cannot read can you. LOL.
I never stated I assume. I stated “maybe”, meaning an uncertainty. What I did state, was your view on Mormon fork tongued Liberal RINO now Conservative Romney’s views on abortion and homo marriage. Boy was ole Romney boy weak in MA. Did not even fight the Courts when the Jud. told the Exec. branch what to do. Even Mormons I know will not vote for him.

Ms RomBUS, you could have solved this entire issue by stating: 1. you are a Mormon, married to one, etc. and feel Joe Smith was correct in stating God removed Himself from mankind until Joe went rock hunting in upstate NY in the 1820s. AND/OR 2. you support slick Willard Romney and will fight to the end with poor logic and all. ;-)

You did not. You attempted to weave and attack me, vs. the truth I put forth.

Have a good day

Snicker...you wouldn't know truth if it struck you down with a lightning bolt. Go harass someone else with your idiotic assumptions.
