Ron Paul Spam Traced to Ukrainian Botnet
PC World ^ | December 04, 2007 | Robert McMillan

Security researchers have shut down a network of computers responsible for sending out nearly 200 million spam messages supporting the U.S. presidential candidate last month, and after analyzing the server's software, it's clear that there is no such thing as a Ron Paul botnet, according to Joe Stewart, a senior security researcher with SecureWorks. "It probably wasn't even set up by a Ron Paul supporter," he said. "This whole system has been around since 2004. This [spam] somehow just landed in this underground spam economy."

Uh huh. If I wanted to, I could set up an offshore server. That’s what pedophiles do. That’s what American jihadists do.

I never received any RP email spam, but the larger issue is the intrusive Internet spamming and google-bombing by the Paultards.

Dan, the article just proved that Paul and his supporters had nothing to do with this.

Whoever did it paid “between $100 and $1,000 to send out the Ron Paul mailing”

I wonder if someone could pay them $100 to pound Rudy’s clickthru ads on Google. I bet that would get real expensive real quick. LOL!

Actually, the article was an opinion piece that proved nothing one way or the other.

A senior researcher at a company that deals with internet security giving a statement on the issue is not 'opinion'. It's news that another slur against Dr. Paul and his campaign is false.

Here's a more indepth article stating exactly what the Secureworks employee did to track it down. But hey to admit Dr. Paul or his campaign weren't at fault would be to say something nice about his campaign wouldn't it....

Someone wrote the email. Someone paid the money. Who? and Why?

I suspect it was a Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter or Mike Huckabee supporter who was trying to make Ron Paul look bad.

I suspect it was..

That would seem to indicate the culprit is unknown, despite the researchers's findings?

...or a Ron Paul supporter trying to make Ron Paul look good -- which would be entirely consistent with the incessant spamming they've been doing across the web prior to this.

Anyone could have set up a mail bot. The tactics are more the M.O. of a MoveOn virtual activism.

Tune in for the next edition of the Alex Jones show to see where this will go. I'm sure Alex and his band of Paultard Truthers will cook up something even more idiotic than your statement.

I’ve not received any RP spam mail either. AND I’m on mailing lists that RP supporters would have access to.

They are pretty much the same people, using the same tactics.

The most active Ron Paul supporters are people with better than average knowledge of Web 2.0. They abuse the Web, much like they abuse common sense, common decency and bandwidth.
