More NBCU 2.0 cuts coming to NBC News? (Crocodile Tears?)
Inside Cable News ^ | 11/30/07

...

ICN has received multiple tips that point to a new round of cuts coming to NBC News. There has been talk of closed door meetings going on amongst NBC News execs this week over this issue. Apparently they haven’t been able to keep a lid on it because from what I can tell the subject is definitely being whispered amongst some of the NBC staffers there. I’m hearing talk about Operational cutbacks, field crew bookings and assignments, the news desk, etc…a lot of infrastructure could be affected and based upon what I’ve been able to put together from the tips it sounds like nothing has been taken off the table on the operations end. I don’t know what else besides Operations might be under the knife but you have to figure that Operational cutbacks can’t be the only thing on the list being looked at.

IMHO the worst, most out-of-touch, bloated, overrated lineup of sports commentators ever.

In second place.

I will not watch the nauseating Bryant Gumball no matter what game he covers. I can't reach the TV clicker fast enough.

A housecleaning is good news for both sides.
NBC sheds dragging dead weights and those that are let go will have to change to be able to engage in employment where contributions are a primary objective.
Sorry, but blogging is already overstaffed, no openings there.

NBC bad news rash ping

I am becoming increasingly convinced that the wealthy, powerful, and somewhat archaic media conglomerates that have controlled the messaging to America for so long are beginning to crumble. As they begin to deteriorate under the weight of a more democratic media system, opportunities to infiltrate the pervasive and corrupt lies and spread truth in love are becoming abundant. As America continues to grow fatigued and sluggish from decades of the mainstream media's preaching of godlessness, bright lights are beginning to shine in the most unlikely media places. And like any small light in a pitch black room, the effect will be unmistakable. - Brian Fisher, Coral Ridge Ministries

But Martin, you forgot about the wonderful football yakking by candle light. That was so wonderful.

If everyone at all of the NBC departments lost their jobs and NBC folded, that would not be a loss for America.

And now NBC starts self actualizing its own vision of returning to a simpler pre-electric age. You got to appreciate the irony of a pre-electric vision coming from a subsidiary of a titan in the electric power plant industry.

CEO Brian Fisher believes that Coral Ridge Ministries can use the Internet to easily grow its audience from 3 million to 30 million during the next 5 years.

This has to be the funniest comment of the day: "Now NBC starts self actualizing its own vision of returning to a simpler pre-electric age. You got to appreciate the irony of a pre-electric vision coming from a subsidiary of a titan in the electric power plant industry."

OK, but cut the sound, make her naked and play the ABC - Hank Williams Monday Night Football theme from 5 years ago.

Honestly, the music and lyrics for the NBC show are terrible and in my opinion, her vocals are grating at best. It's a cheap Hank knock-off and frankly it's insulting to me implying everyone that watches football MUST like country music stars.

Reining In Year-End Costs at NBC News
TVNewser has obtained an email that was sent from the NBC News coverage desk to the network’s news bureaus:

Guys — I am sending this out with a heavy heart... Steve Capus has asked us to forgo the hiring of all Daily Hire & Freelance camera and audio crews for the next three weeks starting tomorrow. The Crews that were scheduled for tomorrow Dec 5th will remain as scheduled, however, beginning Friday Dec 6th all shoots will be considered on a case by case basis. Breaking news will be covered on a case by case basis. This is a company wide mandate that all the bureaus will have to follow. Chip
