That wasn't actually at the scene. It was while paramedics were wheeling him into the emergency room to remove the bullet Faulkner had managed to put into him. When the arresting officers arrived on the scene, the found Wesley Cook (Mumia's real name) sitting on a curb gasping for air because of a collapsed lung, the result of the wound inflicted by Faulkner. They found Faulkner's cooling body laying a few feet away, half his head blown off from a point-blank shot to the forehead. The wound was found to have come from the gun lying at Cook's feet. Another wound in Faulkner came from the same gun.
But Mumia was framed.
