A senior European diplomat in Hong Kong has promoted outrage by giving up the seven-year-old Korean girl he adopted with his wife as a baby.
The unnamed diplomat handed the girl to social workers in Hong Kong, saying the adoption had not worked out.
The man and his wife adopted the girl as a four-month-old in Korea, where he was working at the time, when they thought they could not conceive.
The wife since had two children and decided to hand the girl to social workers because the diplomat said the adoption had gone wrong, the Sunday Morning Post reported.
......The diplomat told the newspaper his family was struggling to cope with their decision and said his wife was having therapy after giving up the girl last year.
......The plight of the girl, described as healthy and happy, has sparked anger among members of Hong Kong's Korean community, many of whom flooded the country's consulate with offers of help.
In Korea, parents cannot return adopted children, but no such law exists in Hong Kong.

Ditto!
Kinda like a divorce, it just didn’t work out.
These are contemptible, despicable human beings.
Having said my above post, I think that it is certain she will find a loving home among the Korean community of Hong Kong, so it will probably be for the best.
This “diplomat” obviously didn’t want a Asian face cluttering up his nice lily-white family portrait now that his house-frau had whelped two pups with the appropriate genetic characteristics.
One thing for sure. However this turns out, this girl is going to be emotionally scarred for the rest of her life.
Wow. And here I had such high regard for “senior European diplomats”.
Yes, and does he have to give back any tax breaks he got for having another child?
Didn't work out. Rotten luck, eh?
Granted they are despicable....unless extenuating circumstances come up. To me it sounds as if the father dumped the child and the mother is having a near breakdown over it....makes me curious to know the details.
I have a friend who when she was growing up the family cat kept peeing and it was getting on the laundry. Her mother had the cat put down. Shortly after her mother figured out it was the family dog doing the peeing, not the cat.
My friend’s mother never told anyone until she was on her deathbed - then she finally told her daughter. The poor woman felt terrible about it.
What circumstances would you dictate as extenuating in regards to a seven year old girl?
“What circumstances would you dictate as extenuating in regards to a seven year old girl?”
There are none. Perhaps her Korean face was interfering with her “father”’s diplomatic career. It would be good to know the name of this “public servant”. The people of his nation should understand what sort of person they are employing.
You’re right. I’d like to hear what a seven year old little girl did to deserve this. That’s the only side missing. And for a reason I’d bet.
My two sons are both adopted. Ive taught them that if we take in an animal, we are forever responsible for that life. Even if the critter turns out to be a pain in the rear end, we will be faithful to fulfill our obligations.

I AGREE!! I have a cat we took in 10 years ago. She has dementia or something and keeps pooping and peeing on the outside of the box, then try to cover it up from inside the box.
Yes — a responsibility is a responsibility, period. And yes, you will miss that cat when it goes! We just lost our very old cat, who has been peeing wherever she darn well pleases for the last year. My husband tried to get me to put her to sleep, but I told him it would be like putting my grandmother to sleep. Our cat was the sweetest thing, and while cleaning up after her was irksome, having her company otherwise was worth it. You’ll be surprised how much you miss her someday.
It does not look like the wife’s side is represented OR the government side...what HAS/WOULD an investigation into this family turn up? Child porn for instance? Something is wrong with this whole picture. God Bless this little girl.
Thankfully, the Lord says, Even if your mother and Father forsake you, I will not forsake you.
