NICOSIA (Reuters) - Russia warned the West on Monday that recognising a unilateral declaration of independence (UDI) by Kosovo could set off a "chain reaction" of problems in the Balkans and beyond.

"I want to stress that UDI of Kosovo and recognition of such independence will not remain without consequences," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on the day mediation efforts between Serbia and Kosovo Albanian leaders officially expired.

"It will create a chain reaction throughout the Balkans and other areas of the world," he told reporters, speaking through an interpreter after talks with Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos.

I actually agree w/Putin on this one. Kosovo should not be given independence. It is part of Serbia, the seat of ancient Serbia. The EU or UN can’t just up and give it to Kosovo because they spawned like rabbits and took over the area by population growth. Then the U.S. will soon lose Texas, California, New Mexico and Arizona to Mexico if that is the rule, and the U.N. or EU can come into the U.S. and tell us that those states are now no longer part of the U.S. but of Mexico. Plus, Kosovo would just become one more narco-terrorist Muzzie state. Just what we need in the heart of middle Europe.

Yes, I totally agree with the Russians here as well, how strange does this feel?

The interventions of Blair and Clinton really bore fruit didn't they with all those jihadists running around now??. Milosevic shouldn't have been in the Hague, Blair & Clinton should have been.

“Kosovo” is code for ISLAMIC EXPANSION. Clinton wanted to ‘feel the pain’ of the muzzies and now we have “Kosovo”. Clinton and Carter are the worst past presidents ever...

Rewarding the Albanian Muslim squatters with Serbian land so they can ply their drug trade is insane. Serbia is fortunate to have Putin and the Russians on their side. Clinton’s war in Kosovo is a blot on our nation’s record, and it is seldom mentioned in the msm these days.
After seeing the Clintons in action at Waco and in Kosovo, our country is insane for entertaining the notion of Mrs. Clinton as President.

The Clintonites???????????????? PORD, who has been bloviating about TROP and Kosovo independence for the past 6 years down in DC? The Clintonites?

Support for Kosovo independence is part and parcel of George Bush’s violation of his oath of office in not protecting our borders and working, yes, working, to arrange for the removal of that border between us and Mexico.

Oh, and Somalia...well the Bush State Department, with the help of its Justice Department, has done everything it can to turn whole cities and towns in this country into little Mogadishus and then hand the bill to the taxpayers. Clinton didn’t do that. Bush did!

The guys in my military unit couldn’t understand why I was against the intervention in Kosovo in the first place. They kept sputtering words like “genocide” and demonizing Milosevic. For a while, they thought I was turning into some tree-hugging peacenik.

Back then, it wasn’t possible to explain the roots of Kosovo’s woes: islamic extremism. I’m *sure* I could explain it to them now.

Unfortunately Bush carried on the failed Clinton policy even after 9/11, which should have been a wake-up call. Serbs have traditionally been pro-US and our entire Balkan policy seems very shortsighted.
