Will Blacks forgive Duane "Dog" Chapman after he apologized for making racial slurs in a private conversation he had with his son? His TV show , "Dog the Bounty Hunter" was suspended and he apologized publicly.
Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson was present and stated "We don't condone racial slurs, but upon hearing Dog's apology and after meeting him and his family, we don't believe he's a racist. We also believe that Duane "Dog" Chapman sincerely wants to make amends to the black community, and deserves a second chance.
And he did not go to Jackson or Sharpton to ask for forgiveness!!!! No!
The Dog would like to make amends and will be at Reverend Peterson's organization, BOND this Saturday December 15th at 11:30 a.m. PST to give away Christmas toys to kids and autograph copies of his book "You Can Run But You Can't Hide". He is donating all proceeds to "The BOND Home for Boys". If you'd like to turn out and support The Dog, and celebrate the fact that he did not ask Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton for forgiveness, call (323) 782-1980 or go to www.bondinfo.org for more information.
To err is human, to forgive divine!
“Blacks are more racist than whites.”
- Larry Elder, “The Ten Things You Can’t Say In America”
I think The dog was sincere too. To Err is Human, To forgive Divine....
As Jesse Peterson says.......not all, not all, not all...but most...yes!
I don’t think Dog’s son will be getting much from his Mom and Dad for Christmas this year.
Did he ever tell his dad he was sorry?
I watched a couple of his apologies on different TV shows and, frankly, I think he should just blow it off and rack it up to “lessons learned”. I think his apologies to blacks was both heartfelt and sincere. His naivete, however (IMO) was his undoing. He believes(d) as a result of his prison time that he was considered by blacks as both a black and a friend.
I think when black Americans look at Dog, they see a white man who tries hard and cares about people (them included), but I don’t believe they look at at him as a black man.
Dog is an interesting character and I hope A&E gets over their PC and puts him back on the air. Dog made a mistake and apologized for it. Rev. Sharpton has yet to apologize for Tawana Beawley - and, IMO, there’s no way in the world that can be racked up to a “mistake”.
Move on, Dog, you’re a better man than the people you are apologizing to.
I saw it as him being honest anyway. That’s just how they talk on the street where he works.
Outrageous. White men cry like babies when questioned over some stupid remark made during a private conversation? when the pc crowd censors PRIVATE conversations ...America will lose alot.
I cannot even imagine what a betrayal that would be! For your own child to release tapes of a private phone conversation would be the ultimate betrayal. Christmas gift, my fat backside, I’d be more inclined to disinherit and disown. I expect a certain level of loyalty from MY family members and they expect the same of me. This just has to be one of the uglier instances of family disloyalty.
Not that I know of.
On the same subject, there is a columnist in my local paper, one Leonard Pitts (not sure how widely distributed his column is), he is African American, liberal and one whom I rarely agree with, but even he said that Dog's son was a complete jerk to distribute that tape.
I don’t think he wants them to see him as black, but as a street wise guy like them. He’s a streetwise guy with a heart.
Perhaps, but if he does, he is a far bigger man then most.
I agree he came up tough and that’s how he learned to talk.
Actually, he mentioned on one of the apologies I saw that he believes(d) that they considered him as one of their own because of his prison time. That's why I mentioned it, because he mentioned it.
They just did!
And I don't believe Barry Bonds does steroids.
I hope he follows his dads lead and apologizes.
I may get flamed for this but after hearing most of the tape I can understand why dog said what he said. This would not be a story if it weren’t the “N” word on tape being said by a white celebrity.
