After being a Legal Permanent U.S. Resident for the past 35 years (Canadian citizen /my hubby is U.S. citizen by birth), yesterday December 14, 2007, I was sworn in as a U.S. CITIZEN at the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH !! I am SO PROUD and SO EXCITED !!
93 new citizens were sworn in from 33 different countries! It was a WONDERFUL ceremony ! Every nationality you could imagine was represented !
Within 3 hours of getting sworn in, I went to my local Town Hall and REGISTERED TO VOTE ! So I will be "good to go" for the New Hampshire Primary on January 8th ! whooo-hooo !!!
I’m really surprised you haven’t yet received a notice to come for the Citizenship Interview and Testing. Perhaps the Immigration Office in Massachusetts is backlogged ? I don’t know. But I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly everything went at the Machester NH Immigration Office.
Actually, I’ve already been doing that for a long time now ! It seems natural to me to write favor, instead of favour and humor instead of humour, color instead of colour, etc. Good old Noah Webster !
Well, just be patient ...at least you are “in the pipeline” and being processed, eventually ! It’s worth the wait !
As a side note, all the congratulations and good wishes to me from fellow Freepers here have been so heart warming and such a blessing ! I am truly humbled !
Congratulations again :)
May God Bless YOU!!!!
Just curious veritas - what is your country of birth ???
Congratulations!
Welcome to the family.
Lebanon.
Wow ... that’s far away ! Do you have any family in the U.S. ? I hope you will be able to have some family members or friends present at the Oath Ceremony to share your excitement! All my family (cousins) are in Canada, and nobody was able to come, but I was blessed to have some of my Church family members attend the Ceremony, along with my hubby.
Almost all my family still live in Lebanon. I have one borther who lives in Canada. Yes, it will be a beautiful thing to have family members attend the Oath ceremony.
I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Does your brother live in Toronto by any chance ?
He lives in Montreal area.
Contrats to you!!!
Thank you VOA for the kind words and good wishes !
ILLEGAL immigrants who are abusing the privileges of this country (by getting free medical care, education, having “anchor babies”, committing crimes, etc.) DRIVE ME NUTS. Something has got to be done to stop this nonsense, and “amnesty” is NOT the answer !
CONGRATULATIONS!
