[Ron] Paul Raises $6 Million in 24-Hour Effort [December 16, 2007]

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's supporters raised over $6 million Sunday to boost the 10-term Texas congressman's campaign for the White House.

Called a "Money Bomb," the goal was to raise as much money as possible on the Internet in one day. The campaign's previous fundraiser brought in $4.2 million.

At midnight EST, donations were over $6 million, according to the campaign Web site. Those donations are processed credit card receipts, said Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton. Benton said the median donation is about $50 in the fundraiser, which was the idea of Paul supporters who are not officially connected to the campaign.

Trevor Lyman, a Paul supporter who is traveling the country following the Ron Paul blimp, said the date of the fundraiser coincides with the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

The Ron Paul blimp is an aerial billboard emblazoned on one side with "Who is Ron Paul? Google Ron Paul." The other side reads "Ron Paul Revolution." The blimp, another grass-roots effort, was in Chester, S.C., on Sunday, and organizers hope to get it to New Hampshire before the Jan. 8 primary there.

I need not say anything of substance as you support Dr.Leary. I’m not sophisticated, nor do I need to be to understand that Paul is a moron.I’m not a McLame supporter but thanks for playing. It does not change the fact that, as a Paul supporter your a moron.

It boggles my mind how some conservatives can support the Patriot Act

Amen to that.

I was driving down a local 4 lane local highway yesterday and on 4 different corners along a 1 mile stretch there were Paul supporters with signs and asking for donations.

These were all high school and college-age looking kids, and they were VERY enthusiastic.

My own just-turned 18 yo is supporting Ron Paul, and so are a lot of her friends.

(well, what did I hope to get when I homeschooled her and had her learn real history, including a thorough reading of the Constitution and the Federalist and anti-Federalist papers, and taught her to think for herself ?)

“Yep - before income tax, before gun control, before HEW, Before HUD, before BATF, before IRS, before EPA, yep HOW DID OUR GRANDPARENTS SURVIVE WITHOUT THE MASSIVE INTRUSIVE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO RUN THEIR LIVES? I’m sure you would just hate to roll the government back to what it was before FDR decided to go socialist.”

I have a friend whom I debate politics with quite frequently. He and I see this grassroots phenomenon very differently. He thinks other candidates will be able to study Ron Paul's campaign and will use similar ideas (ie hands off) in the future.

I have to remind people, there is nothing stopping ANY other candidate from doing it now, nor has their ever been. The only thing different from 10 years ago is the internet now allows me to find similarly like minded people. Ok, my friend says, but others can find like minded as well. I remind him that's been going on for years. There's FR, and DU, and Moveon, etc. What's the real difference? Why can Dr Paul gain so much momentum, money, and passionate grassroots support?

It's the message! :D

Where else can you get a message of liberty, freedom, integrity, and honesty from a politician? WHERE? What other candidate can cross party lines with such a message?

No. Ron Paul's support won't come close to being matched in the near future. Unfortunately, we won't have another Constitutional candidate to coalesce around for a while.

Ever heard of Afganistan...that little hub where the Russians failed to hold. You don’t think we had some involvement in keeping them from winning, did ya?

That's pretty damn funny and a good reson why RP is popular. There was a guy we used to finance in Afghanistan against the Soviets called ... Osama bin Laden.

It's why RP does not support foreign intervention.

Isn’t it simply a wonderful thing that just talking about a candidate who wants to return to Constitutional ways shows most “conservatives” on here for the big government statists they really are.

It makes a lot of people uncomfortable about themselves.

And so lil kim is flirting with nukes as a way to neutralize us and take S. Korea..

So, if we weren’t there, would he have as much incentive to develop nukes ?

I don’t know, but I think there’s a relationship between events there.

"Perots heroic doings, as you call them, are what gave us 8 years of clinton "

Perot gave us Clinton.
Bush gave us Perot.
Ignoring voters leads to 3rd Party.

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul's moonbat supporters raised over $6 million Sunday to boost the 10-term Texas congressman's campaign for the White House.

There. . .fixed it.

Won't help Paul, but hey, if they give money to Ronnie, they can't give it to someone running as a Democrat.

You are correct, it is the message and not the candidate. Ron Paul lets everyone know it is the message and not him. Very humble man.
