WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Nearly two-thirds of Americans say they believe the Constitution guarantees each person the right to own a gun, according to a poll released Sunday.
In all, 65 percent said they thought the Constitution ensures that right, and 31 percent said it did not. The question had a sampling error of plus-or-minus 3 points.
Men and people living in rural areas were most likely to say the Constitution guarantees the right to own a gun.
Nearly three quarters of men (72 percent) said they believed so, versus 26 percent who did not. More than half (58 percent) of women said they believed so, versus slightly more than a third (35 percent) who did not.
That question had a sampling error of plus-or-minus 4.5 points.

Bad news for Romney.
versus 64 percent... of what?
Hey CNN! What did the founding fathers think!?
Versus 64% for the total population I think.
Is there no place where government schools will show a success?
When is the election on gun rights?
The bullets are more explicit. Check the link.
Romney is on record stating that people have an individual right to keep and carry weapons.
So he’s on the side of the 65%, which means this is GOOD for Romney.
And for Rooty. There is a reason that NE liberals don’t win and they are just too stupid to understand it.
I thought Romney supported the Second Amendment.
He doesn’t?
No problem. He’s just another professional rich person on the make for a high office. They can change colors faster than a chameleon - and reverse them even quicker once in office.
CNN is too intersted in what the founding mothers thought.
those numbers are just going to get worse...in favor of the anti-gun fanatics. as the country turns more and more communist
Suburbanites, maybe? It does seem like the writer had a brain cramp about the time he got to that sentence.
That 31-percent that did not agree is about the same percentage that exists of voters that are part of the hardcore Democrat/Socialist/Communist voting block.
So Romney supports the AWB which did nothing except punish law abiding citizens AND is for banning such things as the "cop killer round" (30-30) and the "sniper rifle" (30-06).
Romney doesn't know the meaning of "shall NOT be infringed"
Nearly three quarters of men (72 percent) said they believed so, versus 26 percent who did not. More than half (58 percent) of women said they believed so, versus slightly more than a third (35 percent) who did not.We need to do a better job of getting across the fact that gun control is anti-woman (and anti-the-most-vulnerable).
Last time I checked, the Bill of Rights wasn’t subject to be changed by push-polling. Still, it must have been a disappointing result for CNN.
