You don’t know much about true Christians, do you?

“”...people who are not religious ... are immoral...””

“The only one saying this is that atheist professor who hates religion.”

Yeah, I have never felt ONCE any of the things this guy is trying to say I am supposed to be victim of.

Yet he gets a link on Drudge and a voice to the world.

So far, some of the candidates have been trying to "Out religious' the other without talking about the issues.

I totally agree. I am religious, but I have no need to hear about how much more religious the candidates are than each other.

It leaves a horrible taste in the mouth and looks as though they are desperately grasping for relevance.

“Pray in private where no one can see you.”

Did George Washington pray in public? Did he openly profess to be a Christian? Would you vote for him?

I'm agnostic, conservative, and support morality in this country. I like both Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney.

Funny, no one ever "polls" me on these issues.

Pioneering Psychiatrist Carl Jung often made the argument that the waning influence of the Church in 19th and 20th Century western culture was the main cause of neurosis in modern man.

I don’t get it really. Atheism is literally the absence of faith or religion. It is a nothing. Ergo there’s nothing to talk about. It’s like a kid that whines because Tommy has GI Joes and he doesn’t. Mom asks: “Do you want me to buy you a GI Joe?” and the kid says “No, I hate GI Joes!”

“You don’t know much about true Christians, do you?”

I know what St. Paul stays about the core of the gospel (death for our sins and ressurrection) and how if one accepts that, one is a “true Christian.”

Do you propose something over-and-above what was written to the Church at Corinth?

agreed.

They have no reason to complain. Just anothe whiny special interest.

The nation already has seperation of church and state.
Work damn well.

That is all I personally need in regards to the whole subject.

I have always been impressed because Washington, who studied the Bible regularly and faithfully attended church, got up and left before communion after the Revolution. (It’s at the end of the service.)

Why? He family was asked that question.

Because Washington held a grudge against a man, and as much as he prayed and tried, he could not forgive the man, and so he could not take communion.

How can you feel demonized if you don’t believe demons exist?

“More evidence that the WORD has pegged these as the last days.”

Just in case that’s a premature assessment.

I’ll just keep on fighting liberalism in the mean time.

A safe and secure retirement still means a little bit to me.

The Godless feel left out? The core values of any candidate or any person is religiously held. If that religion is a godless one, then there seems to be an arbitrary foundation for their ethics and epistemology. Is it wrong to murder? If so why? Appealing to self is an arbitrary standard, appealing to an external ethic, God's law is more an absolute standard. One ethical standard is predictable, the other not. Perhaps that foundational difference explains the abortion chasm between atheists and theists. What one believes has real consequences as to how one will govern. It will define their vision for the country and the foundation for law and responsibility to apply and enforce that law.

Mitt says he doesn't believe his religion enough to allow it to influence him, thus his religion is not Mormonism, but personal pragmatism (this disqualifies him for office IMHO). Huck religiously applies the law of God inconsistently, misapplying thou shall not steal (progressive, and tyrannical taxes) in the sphere or the civil magistrate. (While appealing to higher standard he is actually quite arbitrary -this makes him equally unpredictable and disqualified for office IMHO).

It is not the set of religious one professes, but the one's that are held that matter. So far the religious beliefs I see that are held by most of the candidates contain humanism, pragmatism and a personal quest for personal power. In other words those that hold to a godless religion should feel well represented.
