Shuster: 'Republican Establishment Fox News' Going After Huckabee
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/20/2007 5:08:46 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Biting the hand that used to feed him, David Shuster has accused Fox News of being part of the "Republican establishment" and as such, going after Mike Huckabee. Shuster appeared on MSNBC's Morning Joe during the 6:30 AM ET half-hour today.

DAVID SHUSTER: What's been so interesting about Huckabee, you're starting to see the Republican establishment, despite him being the "Baby Jesus" candidate [adopting Joe Scarborough's formulation], the Republican establishment is going after him pretty hard now. And you even saw it last night when the, I suppose you could call them the Republican establishment Fox News correspondent was asking some pretty asinine questions --

I find it rather amusing that this group is singing Mike Huckabee’s praises.

So in the media, the sides are lining up for an against Huckabee.

Democrats and leftists: for.

Republicans and conservatives: against.

Do you not find it the least bit offensive for Shuster to be calling Huckabee the "Baby Jesus" candidate? See Shuster can seemingly throw punches at the Foxes, yet he is doing his own bashing of Huckabee using these words.

It’s just grist for the mill for them. The MSM needs stories to keep their jobs (when so many in that business are losing theirs) so they huff and puff and make stuff up!

I’d bet money that Huckabee’s story is MSM cotton candy. All hot air and sugar spun up around an empty paper cone. That’s the Huckster!

If a former preacher will lie about using the cross in an ad, what won't he lie about?

O’Reilly seemed to be sympathetic to Huckabee being bashed by the liberals over this ad.

That’s the way he did it on his show last night.

So I wonder how Shuster can blast Fox News over Huckabee coverage.

He must smoke some heavy stuff.

I’m not ready to call Huckabee some Elmer Gantry but his “Jesus juice” is more liberal than mine.

The Libs want a Huckabee nomination, cuz they’ll crush him in the general.

Rudy & McCain worry them just a little, Romney has they concerned...and Fred scares the H—L out of them.

That’s why Fred is “lazy.”

Welcome to the camp
I guess you know why I’m here
My name is Huckster
And I’m being pushed this year
If you want to follow me
You have to play pinball
And put in the earplugs
Put on the eye shades
You know where to put the cork...

Of course they are going after anyone who isn’t Rudy! Sad times for Fox News.

well all hope is lost with the GOP, Tancredo is bailing out and Hunter is not on my state’s ballot. those were the only 2 worthy, but Fred might have to do.

One thing that Huckabee does is cut into the Clintons base. Yes despite the willing appearance that the Clintons are anti-right wing ‘morals voters’, which is the base that the exposure of Foley last year was intended to rock, draw them back home to Clintons. Remember the TIME mag article on Billy Graham, LBJ was supposedly the president that Billy Graham was the best of friends. I remember that Billy Graham was NOT all that friendly with the sinner Nixon, but he has woven yards and yards of cloth covering over the Clintons sins.

Since the Clintons were officially in office I have been stunned as who some of the base democrat voters are. In this state of MO some of the most frequent church goers around are democrat voters.

Shuster’s a lightweight, I’m still waiting for Rove to be indicted as he assured us all repeatedly he would be.

What I found hilarious was Chris Mathews over the top paranoia about Huckabee’s commercial. He seems to think it means Huckabee is the candidate from that old Steve King novel about a man that can shake your hand and see your future, with Huckabee in the Martin Sheen role.

I could help but laugh listening to him rant on and on this morning.

She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Huckster were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...
Is to be what you’ll be.
Her cheek hit a chair and blood trickled down,
mingling with her tears,
Huckster carried on preaching
and his voice filled dano1’s ear
She caught his eye she had to try
but couldn’t see through the lights
Her face was gashed and the ambulance men
had to carry her out that night.
