This is a classy but proactive statment by Rep. King who makes it clear he believes Fred is the best man in this race and that he does not support his friend Tom Tancredo in his decision to endorse Romney.

This is the same Fred Thompson who supported title X that was based on the false premise of man made Global Warming. Below are a passage from the bill and a passage of his remarks about the bill.

DIVISION D--INTEGRATION OF ENERGY POLICY AND CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY TITLE X--CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY FORMULATION

Subtitle A--Global Warming SEC. 1001. SENSE OF CONGRESS ON GLOBAL WARMING.

(a) FINDINGS. The Congress makes the following findings:

(1) Evidence continues to build that increases in atmospheric concentrations of man-made greenhouse gases are contributing to global climate change.

(2) The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has concluded that ``there is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities'' and that the Earth's average temperature can be expected to rise between 2.5 and 10.4 degrees Fahrenheit in this century.

Thompson's remarks:

I would like to thank my colleagues for their statements and indicate my support for the agreement that we have reached with regard to Title X. A lot of hard work has gone into this agreement. It is my belief that there are still many uncertainties with regard to climate change. However, I also believe that the potential risks of climate change warrant study, research and technological development. This substitute to Title X goes a long way towards achieving those goals. This amendment also recognizes that there are many contributors to climate change beyond CO2, and I appreciate that black soot is included.

Fred isn't nearly as Conservative as he wishes everyone to believe

Fred isn't nearly as Conservative as he wishes everyone to believe.

I know you think that your post and subsequent statement somehow prove that Fred is not conservative, but I just don't see the connection.

He basically said that the temperture is rising and we need to study it.

He did not say that it was primarily caused by man.

How you equate that type of statement with not being conservative is a mystery to me.

Care to explain?

So you think the earth's not warming?

The main thing I see about the conservative view is that not whether warming is happening, but rather, if man is responsible for it.

Anyways, if you're interested in a good debate, have a read.  Might be a little long.  but very interesting.

Your boy is the one that raised his well manicured, multi-milliondollared hand and agreed with man-made globull warming... Fred WAS THE ONLY MAN THAT REFUSED TO RAISE HIS HAND... no surprise... he was the only Conservative on that stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It must be early since I am swinging at pitches in the dirt, but what the hell...

This was 5 years ago before the countering science was hardened as it has become.

Also your own post answer the question on where Fred was on this:

I would like to thank my colleagues for their statements and indicate my support for the agreement that we have reached with regard to Title X. A lot of hard work has gone into this agreement. It is my belief that there are still many uncertainties with regard to climate change. However, I also believe that the potential risks of climate change warrant study, research and technological development. This substitute to Title X goes a long way towards achieving those goals. This amendment also recognizes that there are many contributors to climate change beyond CO2, and I appreciate that black soot is included.

So we are against taking actions that move science ahead and try and preserve our nation against a perceived threat, which is where this was at that time.

In 2002 the bulk of the science was looking at a dramatic impact from Global Warming. Even then there was some debate on the cause, as Thompson noted, but not denying something was up. As we know now this appears to be a natural phenomena and not as dramatic as it was thought hopefully.

So they, and he, erred on the side of caution. I like that in a Conservative. I hope he errs on the side of caution in regards to Iran and other thinggs as well.

What part of "we don't know if there's a real problem, so let's study it to be sure one way or another because there is a risk involved" isn't conservative?

I do this all the time as a manager -- it's called risk mitigation, and you pay an upfront cost to minimize the chances of a much, much higher cost problem coming later.

Fred isn't nearly as Conservative as he wishes everyone to believe

DH believes in globull warming, and said so in a televised debate. DH supports free trade with Muslim countries. DH supports the fair tax - which would require a 34% sales tax to even equal current revenues from income tax alone.

Duncan Hunter isn't as conservative as he wants us to believe.
