There could be some difficulties relating to the ski resort culture of course.

Having enough money for it would be one.

Graybeard58 I think he believes we ae Mitbots.

After spending several days defending the bookcase in the Huck's campaign video that's a real surprise to me.

Republicans should not get sidetracked on this religion thing. Simply grant the other guy the right to belong to a cult of his own choice or making.

Focus any concern about religion on the Democrats ~ you've got Hitlery, Obamasama and the Breck Girl to attack. They are weak on all of it ~

Ask yourself, how many black people live in Utah TODAY? Doesn’t it make you wonder just a bit?

What's the issue? If you want more blacks, invite them.

We are speaking historically.

I suppose you don’t understand that Utah has one of the best employment stats in the country. That out-of-staters are flocking in from EVERYWHERE. That we have the greatest snow on earth, and wonderful areas of temperate cliamate as well. Utah is experiencing MORE growth than almost any other State.

Blacks anyone? The consensus in Utah seems to be...Not in MY back yard. Please.

I forgot....We DO have Gladys Knight (not the Pips) and Thurl Bailey. We just love our black people. What a bunch of PR hooey.

If I were Gladys Knight I would be humiliated at being such a tool.

This is another example of dragging out the race card, this time against Mitt Romney. There are few black Mormons primarily Becca's the religion developed in the Great Lakes region in the early 1800s, then migrated to the West after persecution in Illinois and Missouri. There were few blacks in these areas at the time. For historical reasons, there are also few black Lutherans and Eastern Orthodox believers, yet no one accuses these churches of racial bias. There are also few black Presbyterians, in either the liberal (PCUSA) or conservative (PCA and smaller groups) denominations, even though that church has a considerable presence in the South, unlike the Lutherans or Eastern Orthodox churches. The proportion of black Catholics to the African American population is far smaller than that of white Catholics among European Americans, again for historical reasons and in spite of the relative lack of racism and the egalitarian ethos in the Catholic Church.

I do not support Mitt Romney because he lacks a seasoned track record as a conservative and he still does not get conservative philosophy in some respects, e.g., his belief that human activity cause global warming. However, everything in the man's career points to his belief in racial equality and his support of civil rights for all Americans. I am more than tired of ad hominem attacks and smear tactics in this campaign. The fact is that Republicans viciously attack their opponents, yet cower like whipped puppies when the MSM and the liberal Democrats attack.

Correction. There are few black Mormons primarily because the religion developed in the Great Lakes region in the early 1800s, then migrated to the West after persecution in Illinois and Missouri.

As I noted already you’all prefer Latinos ~ they are more willing to accept below-market wages (in cash) and take orders ~

Exactlyyyyy....... Obviously Blacks have not exactly been welcomed in Utah during it’s 160 year history, and were never “invited.”

The last 30 years since the LDS Church ended its discriminatory practices, we have seen a few more. We are probably all the way up to 5% of the population.

We don’t bring them. Every Western State has a mexican problem.

BTW I am married to an hispanic man. His ancestors have lived in the United States area for longer than ANY of yours.

You sound like a racist.

The Southern Baptists, a denomination that split with its Baptist cousins to the north over the right of ministers to own slaves (and presently the nation’s largest Protestant Christian denomination) “apologized” in June 1995 for their pro-slavery, pro-racist, pro-segregationist past. Measured from the date Southern Baptists began waving their Christian banner for slavery (1845) to the date they apologized (1995), http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/religion/southern_baptist_history.html

That's a streeeeetch.

You know how is it. You have something to say but you don't quite know how to say it so you streeeeetch it. Okay, I admit it, I was a single professional in California for 11 years and I frequented bars 4 nights a week. Phew....now I feel better!

My Hispanic ancestors got here on the SECOND BOAT.

You lose!

Should have put the /sarc note in there.

BTW, whenever a Utah employer hires on an illegal alien he or she "invites" more such folks.

Your politicians ended up on the wrong side in the Amnesty Debate this Summer too.

How does anything you have said refute the facts presented in this article?

Really...the Great Lakes area. How long did the LDS Church stay there. Three/four years until they amasses hundreds of followers. Then the LDS Church moved to Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois for the next 17 years where tens of thousands joined.....all white.

Somehow they neglected to pick up any people of color during the time they were converting hundreds of thousands of white folks from Scandinavia, England, Scotland.....oh yeah.... I have a g-g-grandfather that converted to the LDS Chuch in South Africa.....but none of the “darkies” were allowed.

Come one now. Revisionist history is not going to help your case.

I was firmly against the reelection of Chris Cannon because of the illigal immigration issue. I even argued with Jim Rob about it.

Illegal immigration is a United States problem. Believe me, your STATE does it too, and so does every other one including Mitt’s Massachusetts. But they do allow African Americans to actually live there don’t they?

I was trying to point out that the Mormon religion was not the only religion to have a serperatist attitude, and I think I proved that the Southern Baptist did too, which is the religion that Mike Huckabee belongs too. And the only reason that Mormonism is being questioned is because it is the faith of Mitt Romney, but why isn't the racism history within the Southern Baptist Convention addressed? Because it is all POLITICS.
