Oh Wow. This guy is a live one. Search around on his name.

Respiratory Health Problems Expected to Continue Long After California Wildfires Extinguished; Prevention Urged

Dr. John R. Balmes has studied the effects of wildland fire smoke in firefighters and is currently studying the effects of woodsmoke in women and children who live in homes where wood is used for cooking and heating in Guatemala.

Say goodbye to your fireplaces and barbecues everyone.

Actually, worse. The government (taxpayers) pay him to prove that humans are hazardous to the earth. ;-)

For more than forty years I’ve heard “We have to clean up the air”. Every Political campaign we hear “We have to clean up the air”. Bureaucracies were created, money was allocated.

Some of the bureaucracies are funded by penalties against real or imagined Industrial violaters of pollution laws of which were created by the self funding bureaucracies. Where is the science?

My point is that here we are forty plus years later and we still are told “We have to clean the air” after Billions of dollars have been confiscated from the economy apparently to perpetuate those whom continue to state “We have to clean the air”.

We call it right when we say AGW is a scam, but has anyone looked at the “We need to clean the air” scam.

Where are the reports of the results of forty plus years of economy wrecking confiscatory pollution rules that only provide us in So. Calif. clear days to this date ONLY when it is windy, cold, and after a good rain shower.

Is this a political appointment, or is it one of those where party labels don’t matter much?

I’d say the label mattered regardless, given the job description. How many Democrats you know of aren’t adherents to the Global Warming/Green obsessed pseudoreligious farce ? I’d jam pack such a board with skeptics who actually base their decisions and judgments on facts and not political correctness/coercion.

The head of CARB is one of the most powerful positions in the state, and yes—party matters (IMO). In California, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a Democrat environmentalist who isn’t a moonbat.

CARB is the entity that controls all industry, power plants, etc. (human breathing!) through their over-reaching regulations and rules. Their powers were increased with the passage of AB32 having to do with global warming (and related topics).

Here is the chairman, for example (appointed by Arnie):
You can view the other members here: http://www.arb.ca.gov/board/members.htm

Mary D. Nichols, Chairman
California Air Resources Board
Biography

Mary D. Nichols was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as Chairman of the California Air Resources Board in July 2007. She returns to the Air Board 30 years after serving as the Chairman under Governor Jerry Brown from 1978 to 1983.

Nichols has devoted her entire career in public and private, not-for-profit service to advocating for the environment and public health. In addition to her work at the Air Board, she has held a number of positions, including: assistant administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Air and Radiation program under the Clinton Administration, Secretary for California’s Resources Agency from 1999 to 2003, and Director of the University of California, Los Angeles Institute of the Environment.

As one of California’s first environmental lawyers, she initiated precedent-setting test cases under the Federal Clean Air Act and California air quality laws while practicing as a staff attorney for the Center for Law in the Public Interest. Nichols holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Yale Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University.

In her return as Chairman, Nichols’ priorities include moving the state’s landmark climate change program ahead, as well as steering the Board through numerous efforts to curb diesel pollution at ports, and continuing to pass regulations aimed at providing cleaner air for Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley. She values innovation, partnerships and common-sense approaches to addressing the state’s air issues.

The Air Resources Board leads the country in working with the public, the business sector, and local governments to protect the public’s health, the economy and the state’s ecological resources through the most cost-effective reduction of air pollution. The Board now employs roughly 1,200 engineers, scientists and attorneys, with an annual operating budget of more than $750 million.

Needn't read further than "Jerry Brown." And if Rose Bird weren't dead, Ah-nold would reappoint her as Chief Justice again, no doubt.
