WASHINGTON (AP) - In a brief foray into politics, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Friday denounced comments by a leading Republican presidential candidate that the Bush administration's foreign policy is arrogant and unilateral.
"The idea that somehow this is a go-it-alone policy is just simply ludicrous," she said at a State Department news conference. "One would only have to be not observing the facts, let me say that, to say that this is now a go-it-alone foreign policy."
Her remarks came in response to a question about criticism from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has surged in the polls to become a front-runner in the upcoming Iowa caucuses for the GOP presidential nomination. Huckabee recently said the administration's foreign policy was characterized by a "bunker mentality."

I hope you are right about Condi calling their bluff and knowing the Palies are going to fold...seems like she has tried that before and now Hamas is in control of Gaza and Olmert is under her thumb....not sure what she has accomplished in the SoS, with Korea, Syria, Lebanon, etc, come to mind!
So you think the so called “palestinians” are in a similar situation as blacks in Selma, Alabama before Jim Crow?
Because that’s Condi thinks.
Bush isn’t going to be president much longer. Huckabee might be soon. Try not to completely destroy our candidates before they even go up against the Dems.
All our candidates need to pick up on Reagan’s 11th commandment.
We here in the FR need to do the same. If we have disagreements, be respectful and argue about them. All I read when Huckabee comes up is trash-talk.
I haven’t even made my mind up on anyone yet, but one thing is for sure - you guys haven’t talked me out of Huckabee yet and never will using these tactics.
Both Rice and the Huckster are wrong on foreign policy. Condi Rice is busy destroying the nation of Israel, but has time to respond to a foreign policy newbie (the Huck).”

She’s better received by the MSM here than the chauvinistic mullah’s/sultans of the Middle East....she needs to stick closer to home (and the State Department).
Basically, Condi is addressing their grievances that the Palies obstensibly have against the Israelis and saying, “Okay, is that your beef? Here’s your country, now you don’t have to worry about Israel, have a nice day..”, knowing damned good and well that given the choice between no Palestine and war with Israel or Palestine and no war, they’ll take the former each and every time.
I don’t mind if you vote for huck. I don’t think you should give any importance to me thinking he is slime either, honestly. Nobody else in the world cares what i think, and you won’t stop rush and the “insiders”, at least I hope not, huck is just too creepy, carter plus clinton equals huckabee for sure.
Call him whatever you want, but you will be hard pressed not to call him an intellectual .
That said, Huckabee is showing signs of being hyper-sensitive and vengeful. I hate that. It is a scary trait for a President to have, and is part of the list of reasons I couldn't vote for McCain. The ONLY reason I keep Huckabee on my list of potentials is because everyone else is worse, in my opinion. Except for Hunter.
That said...I am thoroughly DISGUSTED by the way Huckabee has been treated by nearly every Republican I used to respect. The broken Party has no class and its lust for power has made it as dishonest as its enemy.
agreed. And the fact that the nickname “huckster” is so easy and starting to stick, ain’t helping his cause either.
Reagans 11th commandment is a myth. For proof search for the 1976 primary campaign, a battle royal between Ford and Reagan.
We do not see 99% of what goes on in State. We get a terse statement now and then, but if most of the real stuff were said in public most people would know why it isn’t.
It turns out that Huckabee doesn't have a Theology degree after all. He has rescinded that claim.
Huckabee is counting on *religion* to pull him through. But when you look at his record .. he is not all that conservative on issues that are *basic* to most conservatives. For example, he likes to raise taxes, protect illegal immigrants, he has supported the early release of a rapist from prison (who went out and did it again). Huckabee has even challenged the very foundation of Capitalism .. the Free Market! He called the free-market campaign organization the "Club for Greed".
Sounds more like someting Hillary would say, doesn't it?
oh boy........what a great conservative world
our open borders sec of state who claims as a black women from Alabama she empathizes with the poor dowtrodden Palestinians victimzed by those wascally Wisraelis
and now she takes our apostate preacherman who’s loathed by the media for the C-word same as Bush was...to the proverbial woodshed....and gives him a sound whipping
and we declare victory....
we are effed and don’t even know it...
they all suck.........a decent consevative is as rare as the dodo bird
Thank you, Condi, for saying what needed to be said.
Does Reagan’s 11th commandment apply to Ron Paul?
Just asking.
I still have fond memories of Ann Margaret in the movie!
I am with you Fish.........the Condi club here hasn’t ever bothered to read the fine print.
They see “black”....”female”...oh goody
if she was a white guy from Alabama she’d be diddly....unless she were Jeff Sessions.....now that is almost a real conservative
remember all the Condi for POTUS folks here a few years back....that’s a hoot
to be fair....she beats Colin Powell though
“I still have fond memories of Ann Margaret in the movie!”
Chocolate, beans and soap.
I was 14 when it came out. She’s such a gorgeous woman.
